I have now stopped taking the Lithium/Priadel. I just hope that I don't start having terrifying (for others) mood swings.

I have an appointment to see my neurologist about the neurological problems that I have been suffering from.

I spoke to my GP this morning and she says that I have stage 3B kidney damage, caused by the drugs that they prescribed.

I have to reduce my intake of Pepsi Max, this may be a problem. I will try and find an alternative.

I am off for a sleep, I will take my bottle of Pepsi Max with me.

How is the Pepsi Max causing a problem? Do you drink the caffeine free one or the one with caffeine?
Question Author
I drink the one with Caffeine. I have tasted the caffeine free one and its okay but not so easy to get.

The last time that I was manic was a few years back. It started off being fun but didn't end well.
pop it in the microwave; come winter, you'll want a Hot Pepsi Bottle to keep you warm while you sleep.
Thanks for the update, just as I made abundantly clear 8n the thread you mentioned above lol...lol.
CKD 3(B)......you can live with that.
Question Author
Jno, I recently set fire to a wheat heat thing in the microwave. I don't want to try anything unusual.

Sqad, is CKD something that runs in families? Wee Frankie, my cat, was euthanized due to it in December. I miss him. :-)
Sqad - what problems could the Pepsi Max possibly cause? I drink quite a lot but I drink the caffeine free one.
Wolfe, did you stop the medication suddenly ?
Question Author
Anne, no. I tapered it off over a week. The psychiatrist said I could just stop it but I was taking no chances.
Smowball....Pepsi Max has been linked to Type 2 diabetes and cardiovascular disease by some doctors.
Not me.
Fat people drink Pepsi Max and the associated conditions are due to them being fat,not the drink....in my opinion.
I agree with you , a psychologist friend told me years ago , where psychiatric medication is concerned reduce it very very slowly. I hope you keep well until your see Dr.
Specialist obesity dietician warned me off colas in general due to the
phosphoric acid. She tried to explain that in addition in some individuals, despite containing zero sugar they can still cause an insulin response which can increase insulin resistance over time. I have cut down drastically switching to sugar free squash diluted much weaker than the manufacturers recommended which unless likely to cause problems. Yes I do drink water as well but it gets boring.
Have you tried watering your Pepsi max down with sparkling water?
Start by adding a little then as you get used to it more and more until the water is just coloured with the Pepsi.
Sorry your having a bad time , much love xx

Rowan and Redhelen

I have been Insulin resistant since my teens, and it has moved on to Diabetes. Reactive Hypoglycaemia was mentioned at some point by a doctor but nothing was done about it.

My weight has always been an issue, at my heaviest I was 22 stone but I am now down to about 18. I know that I should try to lose weight or, at least, eat a balanced diet.

I love Pepsi Max, I like it ice cold from the fridge. I buy the bottles in bulk. GP has suggested taking the caffeine-free stuff - I will think about it.

I hadn't thought about diluting the Pepsi with fizzy water. I don't even know if I like fizzy water. Good idea!

I will think it through (not one of my strengths) and see what the logical solution is. All I seem to be doing just now is drinking, weeing, sleeping and moaning.

Looking on the bright side - tomorrow is Monday and I am working in Oxfam (doing computery stuff) and they usually have a supply of biscuits. I can't buy biscuits for the house because they disappear too quickly so I have some when I am in the shop.
Take your time making each decision and you'll get there. x
Wolfie, I stink the caffeine free Coke, not because of my weight but because it the caffeine could of been the cause of me getting palpitations, I also drink decaf coffee
Typo * drink* hahaha
You know where I am if you want to talk xx
You have done well to lose the weight you have already lost, if they can find an alternative to the lithium you might find it easier to lose a bit more, would It help if we resurrected the weight loss thread for a place to come for support, eating well and getting some exercise will help us both, it's easier together. Let the Doctors sort your meds, and we can help with the everyday stuff.
I hope you get all the help you can, Wolf.
Must be worrying for you.
Maybe an alternative drug can be found, that will not effect your kidneys too much.
All the best.
Didn’t realise you were having such a crappy time Wolfy. I hope you get things sorted.

Have you thought about a soda stream and cordial to get a fizzy fix? I bought one a couple of months ago and it’s great. You can even get Iron Brew that tastes exactly like the real thing.
