To be honest I find this hard to believe of money grasping Amazon

I suspect anything being destroyed has been returned faulty and has been exaggerated by an 'ex' employee with a grudge.
I too am sceptical. "Items tracked to landfill". Where was the photographic evidence? We didn't actually see footage of anything being destroyed.

Ymb, it was an undercover operation by ITV very likely having been tipped off
Electrical items(WEEE) do not go direct to landfill anyway.
Just like many other 'investigations' by Tv that are not above making bits up to fit the narrative.

For the reasons In have stated above I smell Bovine excrement (And its not Johnson for once)

Question Author
Not ALL went to landfill ymb
Question Author
So the point of the News item was what in that case ymb?
To get viewers or clicks for adverts?
Question Author
Arh right, on the National news as well eh?
We shall see.
methinks its bucket of salt time for this "story"
Electrical goods all have to be PAT tested, so maybe they were faulty or not worth the responsibility.
Going to landfill or being destroyed?? What a joke . How many of those items would ''have fallen off the back of a lorry''?We all know where they end up.
The company statement explicitly says none go to landfill whilst acknowledging there is waste. So I don't believe it doe go to landfill, no evidence, and there are laws about what can go there anyway.
I know several people who work for Amazon and whilst it does have it faults, the media do love to have a go and a lot of it is baseless.
I do rather well out of Amazon's deals including their open box stuff which are other people's returns. Mostly its unused stuff or even stuff where the box is badly damaged but occasionally people pull fast ones and return things with crucial parts missing or obviously used. I bought an open box metal framed dog bed that had no bolts and part of the actual frame missing. While the metal could probably be recycled, it would certainly have needed to be disposed of in some way as it was obviously unusable.
