My dentist has banned access to the toilet in his surgery. Even though I offered to wipe it down ie handles/flush etc, she said I should make sure I go before I leave the house! But going to the dentist makes me anxious, I am 77 and take water tablets - quite a combination. I cant get another dentist, they are all full. Is this fair?

No, not acceptable or fair.
Atheist 20.18 My French Dentist had a patient's loo and my friends who still live there have no problems with inaccessibility.
I have a branch of Morrisons 3 miles east of my home and another 20 miles west. The toilets in both branches were closed at the start of the Covid outbreak and have only reopened about three weeks ago.
Likewise, the instore public restaurants in both have only reopened about a fortnight ago.

Thanks very much all. I found a new dentist this morning who has no objection to customers accessing the loo. It's an old persons problem.
Or small children, or anyone really. It does seem unfair.
If you're brave enough... walk into reception carrying a commode or a potty and set it on the floor lol. Toilets might suddenly be available...
Glad you found a solution Lyn.
In your circumstances, they should be able to make exceptions.
My mum was on water tablets and had a tiny bladder, to boot, poor thing!
It was a family joke that she kept a notebook, giving star ratings to all the toilets she had to visit.
I'd have a word with your GP, to see if they could mention this to your dentist.
My mum would make sure she 'went' before leaving the house, but even in the time it took for the journey to the dentists, plus the length of time for the consultation, she may well have needed to go again. Everyone's different!
Sorry, didn't see your 'solution' before answering - my bad!

Hi. Found another dentist much more relaxed about toilets. Thanks.
