I was having a dream in which I was very angry with someone and was trying to get at them. I fell down in my dream and woke up on the floor at the side of the bed.
I just got back into bed and fell asleep having given my knees, shoulder and cheek bones a rub.
The bruises are beginning to come out now.
I am finding it difficult to go to sleep at the moment because I'm afraid it will happen again...it hasn't but I still worry about it.
The night before, on Friday, I got out of bed in my dream and woke to find myself standing at the side of the bed.
Any suggestions as to why this should suddenly be happening?

I know it can be quite distressing Tilly, but if you can bear with it perhaps whatever is maybe making you anxious and giving you these episodes, will pass, if you can identify it. I’m no doctor but messing with your anxiety meds might not solve the problem, or may even make it worse. I’m sure this will all pass and you’ll be sleeping soundly again soon. I have a good...

Are you on any new medication or do you have something troubling you?
I’m not sure why, but as you are now apprehensive. Could you position your bed maybe beside a wall ?
I find I dream profusely when I eat anything with a lot of herbs and or spices in it.
new meds maybe unsettling your body, are you taking any?
as suggested could you position the bed elsewhere....
i am dreaming 5 times a night now, don't know why, but they have me awake at all hours. I can't stop it either, i can only think its the new med im taking, which i won't be able to stop.

Mamya, no new medication and nothing obviously troubling me.
Anne, moving the bed against the wall would not be possible, with the layout of the room.
Lady CG, maybe it was the aktar fish curry!

Thanks for trying to help.

Nothing new Emmie. Would it were, then I could put my finger on it.
see how you go over the next few nights, i say i worry about being worried perhaps you are the same.. good luck.
There were three periods in my life when I had very similar dreams Tilly,
When we first got married, I’d wake up sitting at the top of the stairs convinced I’d been electrocuted, awful feeling.
Then when we had our first baby, I’d wake up hunting under the covers to the bottom of the bed for the new baby, thinking it had suffocated.
Then when one of our children was diagnosed with a life changing condition, I’d wake in a cold sweat thinking I’d left the new puppy we had, outside, in the cold, terrified and shivering.
Maybe there’s something you’re subconsciously worrying about which has unsettled you.
The electrocuted feeling, Vagus, could that have been the phenomenon they call "visceral buzzing"? I've had it happen to me. They coincide with attacks of sleep paralysis which only tend to occur during periods of intense anxiety.
im at my calmest for many a long month, but im still dreaming heavily every few hours, they wake me up every time.
Try sleeping with a simple bolster along the open side of the bed, they're great to cuddle and will tell your body there's something there if you try to roll out.

Could be LCG, although I used to suffer quite often from sleep paralysis too. Thankfully both that and the sleepwalking/talking hasn’t happened for a long time.

Vagus, I do take medicine for anxiety. Maybe I need to have the prescription amended.

that could be it tilly, don't just stop taking it, but speak with doctor who i am sure can help.

Question Author
I shall do that, Emmie.

I have a good idea...make your lovely fish pie and have a lovely comforting portion of it :)
Off topic I know but - Aktar's curries are quite good aren't they?
If you aren't keen on a bolster or body pillow, it may be worth investigating the benefits of weighted blankets although as they can be pricy it's a considered purchase.

Many with anxiety have said they help.
