Dental/Mouth Problem

Hello. I could do with some advice today.

12 days ago I had what my dentist described as a "difficult extraction" of a lower molar that had previously had root canal work done on it.
Before the extraction he had prescribed me metronidazole (?) As he thought that there was infection present. Unfortunately I could, not take the full course as it gave me stomach pains and generally made me feel washed out and unwell. I told the surgery I had stopped the antibiotics and they said just to come for the extraction.
Unfortunately after the extraction I got a dry socket plus an infection. (Not sure if dry socket implies infection.) So, got another course of antibiotics, erythromycin and suffered a world of pain for the next few days. Had 2 further visits to the dentist when they irrigated the socket and packed it with a dressing . This gave me relief from the pain for a few hours, but I was still downing as many paracetamol and ibuprofen as I was allowed.
The pain is now significantly less, but I still need painkillers. Also and this is the bit that is worrying me, when I look in my mouth I can see a red blobby bit under my tongue on the same side as the tooth was on. Is this just a lymph gland ? Should I be concerned that I still have some infection ? Or worse ?
Thanks.

Good girl. -;)
You have my sympathy :(
I’ve had an emergency appointment this morning for really bad toothache, an on going problem from a cracked root in some bridgework which keeps getting infected. I had impressions done and an appointment next week to have it ripped out and a temporary plate with 3 teeth on it...deep joy
Meanwhile I too am on antibiotics and have my 2nd jab scheduled tomorrow afternoon so I’m not going to mention my tooth problem as there’s no way I’m not having the jab!!
Hope you’re on the mend ladyalex.

I do my best, sqad.

You have my sympathy too, Vagus. I hope all goes well for you , or at least better for you in the tooth department.
Good luck with the 2nd jag. I have to say they got a bit solemn about not giving me mine.....very sorry not to give it to me but it really would not have been a good thing for me and so on...and on......but it is up to you.
My problem is definitely settling thank goodness. The red blobby thing is still there though it may be a little less angry looking now. I'm afraid courage has failed me today in regard to trying to reschedule my 2nd jag.....I'll leave it until tomorrow to either deal with the website or cross swords with the helpline again. Not sure which will be more frustrating.
Thanks again everyone .
:-))
Glad there's some improvement though sorry you had a wasted trip yesterday.

Thanks, Mamya. It was a pain going into town then coming back in the absolutely pelting down rain yesterday.....but I half expected to be turned away, so was not too disappointed by that. As for the Covid helpline, though.......what are they for ?
:-))

Sorry, rude of me. Are you and yours OK ? And getting sorted out with jags?
(Lordalex hardly caused any kerfuffle at all yesterday...but I had increased his meds before we left home and had the restraints on standby.)
