It’s now been three weeks since any of my friends have been in contact with me. The only reason I know this is because of the rule about private gardens. I fully expected at least somebody to come and sit in the garden for a catch up, and I have suggested it to everybody – not one person wants to meet up. It’s as if the pandemic has broken everybody. Even my very best friends have gone AWOL. This has been a massive disappointment to me. Has anybody else found that their friends have changed?

Thanks BurlyShirley, maybe I do need to be less stoic.
The new normal ain't normal is it, hope you get to see your friends one way or t'other soon Scarlett.
/// There are very few people I found who are able to be empathic in this situation.///

As this thread shows, there are some who are.

I too live alone and don't have a "bubble", so have a very good idea what it's like. Fortunately I have a few friends who get together via Zoom on a regular basis which is better than nothing. But you can't beat face-to-face as you say.

I hope the responses here have shone at least a little light into the darkness of your isolation, and that your friends soon re-establish a more suitable relationship with you. And carry on using Answerbank as one outlet for socialisation, there are some wonderful folk here (as I'm sure you already realise).
