Might be time to follow instructions given with the screening kit. Otherwise just bin it .
Question Author
will do the test if its that easy -
emmie I think they are running catch ups for everyone who weren't offered the screenings they are entitled to because of the pandemic
Well, as you can see things change over time - Who's to say they won't change something the day before they send your kit out, or there may be regional variations (although unlikely as it's a national screening programme). NHS scotland may do it differently.
It would make mucho sense to me to receive your kit and actually read the instructions and do what's asked. If you dont always follow instructions properly, why would you follow randomers instructions any better?
It's very easy, emmie. Nothing to worry about at all. Please don't be put off because it's poo. Could potentially be a lifesaver.

When you get to a certain age you automatically get called for these things. I've been called for breast screening too.

i will read the instructions all right. but its nothing like having others experiences too.

the reason i guess for the screening, is i have a form of IBS and have had three colonoscopies in thee past, where they found polyps, some of which were removed. That was pretty awful, not the procedure but the medication that you have to take. yuck.
" i don't know if they are trying to tell me something "

They are trying to tell you you're getting on a bit!

i think the GP surgery have put me forward as they are keeping quite a close eye on me in the last couple of months.
Everyone between the ages of 60 and 74 in England is sent a bowel screening kit every two years.
I remember the NHS sent me a kit to wish me a happy sixtieth birthday. How thoughtful.
I've never had any problems in that department but received my first kit when I reached 60. Have received a kit every 2 years since.

If I remember correctly, the paperwork stated that I'd receive a kit every 2 years until I reach 75, thereafter I'd need to request one if I wanted the test.
I think you can request one after age 74 but, hey, you're gonna die soon anyway so it might as well be from bowel cancer!
Screening test easy. Bowel prep disgusting taste. I make it as cold as possible and sip ginger wine at the same time. Makes it a bit easier
Question Author

Question Author
