I'm getting very low oximeter readings of 43 after walking to the bathroom and back to bed, where they settle in the mid to high 60's.
I know the oximeter OK as my wife and son get readings of 97 plus.
At rest I'm just a bit breathless, but the least exertion has me totally breathless.
Taking Trimble, Salamol, Carbocisteine and Lorazepam as well as morphine and Ventolin nebulizers.
Not got oxygen.
I don't fancy the hospital again.
Do you think I could be given a temporary oxygen pack?
Thank you.

You'd have to talk to your GP who would probably send you to hospital.

That's very low. I don't know the dangers of having low SATs or the side effects. I just know that they wanted mine to be as close to 100 as possible. I usually came up at 99.

I'm going to ring the surgery later.
Yeah do. Are you getting plenty of fluids? What's you BP like?
Question Author
Not checked BP today, yet. Fluid intake good.

You certainly need some form of medication.I get breathless with oximeter readings of 79 to 81.Contact your GP sooner rather than later.
I understand that you were refused oxygen because you vape?

Is that due to there being a chance of an explosion? Or some other reason.

It would appear that you need to seek immediate medical attention and I would do that if I were in your shoes

Danny I don't know and I could be wrong
Thanks Woofie.
I wasn't wrong :( about Theland saying he was refused. He doesn't say why https://www.theanswerbank.co.uk/Body-and-Soul/Question1674926.html

I would guess "some other reason".
It is all very well that our AB contributors scream for the application of oxygen, but what I would like to contribute is that oxygen given to some patients with CPOD would be a death knell.......it might KILL them.
So please leave it to the professionals to decide who would benefit from oxygen therapy.
agree sqad and I was just composing an answer to that effect - giving o2 to some people with chronic copd can be very dangerous
Sqad, I don't think any of us were recommending Oxygen. It was Theland who mentioned it.
My Mum was on oxygen and was told no one in the house could smoke or vape due to risk of explosion. Also told to call an ambulance if her reading was 80 or under.
Danny, maybe, but taking the postings of this particular ABer and the subsequent replies, were all or mainly based on the urgent need for oxygen either at home or in hospital.
Bednobs and I were just pointing out the expertise needed in the management of COPD.
Your 02 readings are worrying( even with copd). Please contact go.
How are you doing, theland? I think, everyone is well aware you can't just get oxygen from Amazon... it really is your choice, whether you want to speak to professionals or just tolerate it, with all the risks that gives, as long as you know.
Best wishes, whichever you decide xx
