Oh sorry to hear that. As a teenager I went down to London just to hear him and his jazz band. He was a big name. RIP Chris.

Sad to hear death of a legend in jazz
Very sad. He was a lovely man. I was friends at school with a niece and often got to hear him and luckily meet him. Happy, carefree days.
i was not a big fan of jazz, but have heard him on the radio, tv numerous times..
Great guy & musician I saw him first at The Bodega jazz club in Manchester - Ken Colyer, Lonnie Donnegan, Monty Sunshine, et al. Ah yes!

So very sorry to hear this - as the OP said - nothing on news outlets. Wonderful musician and he seemed such a very nice man.
