Hello hello. I've been prescribed Naproxen for shoulder pain but I've read up on the side effects and I'm now scared to take them! Just wondering if anyone has taken this and their experiences with it? Thanks

The drug companies are required by law to list every single possible side-effect, but the accent is in the 'possible' bit. As advised, the vast majority suffer none of the effects, but if anyone did, the company is absolved from legal action because it is covered by its advice.

Thousands, ten of thousands, hundreds of thousands of patients taking Naproxen with no side effects at all.
All drugs may have side effects it being a matter of trying.
No, I have never taken a Naproxen inmy life.
I haven’t used it but my grandfather has and he was 70 when he started using it for things he said that it helped a lot but he has not had any of the side effects so you have a low chance of having a side effect
It all just depends on your health or the way your body works
No personal experience but side effects from NHS show possible side effects, which you already know.

If you are worried, ask your GP if there is an alternative.
if you are as old as I am then you take lansop as well
or omep or ranit

yes I take both regularly
I took them for a back injury, and they knocked me out. I dare not drive or do anything that took concentration, so only took them on a night for pain relief while asleep.
I’d suggest trying to see. not everyone gets all the side effects. I was on it quite a few years ago and i recall being very tired. That’s why I stoped them.
I took it daily for about a year due to back pain. No side effects while taking them but I did get headaches for a day or so when I stopped taking it.

Aunt APC - you sure? NSAIDS arent usually sedative
sounds more like codeine
I find Ibuprofen more effective (I believe they are related) -I've a touch of gout in one big toe at the moment, having shed weight quickly and thrown my body out of kilter with the Purinol recently - and the Ibu has (as in the past) far more effect on pain management.....today, my quack said 'go for the Ibuprofen first and then if you need the real whack of Colchicine (a crocus derivative) then let me know'.
Peter according to the NHS web site Naproxen can cause tiredness and sleepiness. It literally knocked me out on a flight from Newcastle to Faro . I remember the plane taking off and then landing -nothing in between for the 3-hour flight. Maybe it had something to do with the cabin environment, but I didn't take any more.
I take them but no more than 3 times a week as my doctor said with the 3 blood pressure tablets that i take i have to be cautious.Never had any side effects, they are a good painkiller.
Was on them for 21 years, had to stop because of stomach problems.
Peter - I too found that naproxen made be extremely tired. Just like APG mentioned. The fatigue was so much so I asked doc to switch me to something else.
I’ve been taking naproxen for many months now; this is for backpain and EDS joint pain. I tend to take no more than 500 mg per day as like you, I am concerned about side-effects. That said, I have experienced no side-effects at all. I would suggest taking it, but if your pain improves, start to take slightly less and see how you go. Sometimes there is no need to stay on drugs for a very long time. Also they can start to be less affective if you take them long term. I have some 250 mg tablets which gives me the option of taking a smaller dose.
I took them for a while and had no side effects. Most people won't. All you can do is try them and see. The alternatives will have possible side effects as well, so there's no point asking for something else before you know how this one affects you.
I`ve always favoured Naproxen over Ibruprofen. I have some Naproxen gel which is fantastic for joint pain. It depends what works for you though.
