The manual mentions CVT fluid. What is it and what is it used for please?
The car is a 2001 petrol model. It is a Micra SE 16V 998cc. I will have a few questions about this car which my daughters bought for me from a trader and therefore I don't know some things about it such as when the oil was last changed.
I am abandoning SORN my 1995 Micra which failed the MOT this week and will cost a lot as welding is required. It has been and still is (apart from the welding needed) a brilliant car and I would never have changed it as it has been looked after mechanically. Has this model got a timing chain as it is important I know to change the oil frequently to protect same. I have been looking at you tube to see how to do this but at 77 maybe I ought to pay to have this done now. Until last year. my brother did this each year but he lives so far away and is also getting long in the tooth that it falls to me now to get it done asap.

Thank you shoota but my model is older (2001). that the link you sent.
The title from the link: 'Nissan Micra Hatchback (1993 - 2002) engines'
Why don’t you get a local garage to service it and replace the gearbox (cvt) fluid.
It has a timing chain rather than a belt. There will be no need to change it unless it becomes noisy.
You should have the oil and filter changed as soon as possible if you have no service records.

It is a manual so CVT presumably is for an automatic. Thank you all for your input.

Thank you again. I have never come across cvt fluid. Is this only for automatic cars? Mine is a manual.
I have now insured and taxed the new micro so will drive it tomorrow.
Yes Stargazer it is only for CVT transmissions. Oil for a manual gearbox is totally different.
Just enter your reg into this site, and you will get all the oil info for your car.
