Last week, I found a tick embedded into the skin just below my clavicle. I removed the tick with a tick removal gadget and washed the area well with disinfectant soap.

I applied tea tree cream and thought no more about it, apart from the occasional shudder.

The site of the bite is still very sore and the redness, which had disappeared is back. Literally, it hurts if I touch that area and there is a lump underneath the redness.

Shall I just continue to apply the tea tree cream? It's been over a week now and it doesn't seem to be disappearing.

// I don't have a rash, Sqad, but do have something that looks like an infected spot.// With the caveat that I'm not a doctor and a bit 'gung-ho' I would place a comfortably warm wet cloth on the area for around 10 minutes then give it a squeeze. If anything comes out, then clean thoroughly and apply an antiseptic cream and a bandage covering if you can. If after a...

I cannot fault the post of APG above.
When OH got a tick bite, he phoned the surgery and was told to come straight down for antibiotics. That was a few years back. If surgeries are not offering treatment, then what can one do?
Question Author
I'll try that, APG. Thank you.

APC, depending on how old you are I may have taught you!

What about applying some Mag. Sulphate paste? I'm not sure |I could do the squeezing bit, it hurts!
Sorry, I can't help... but have messaged an ABer with lots of experience with this.
Tkilly I am 73! I think it's unlikely unless you are very, very old!! I came to Bedford in 1962 aged 15 and went to DAHS and then Mander College. My local haunt back in college days was the Kings Arms!
TKilly?
Think APG's advice is spot on.....think there are maps on Lyme's presence in England - I know Dorset/New Forest is supposed to be bad - (joke) after all, that's why Lyme Regis is where it is!

After all, I have a daughter with it - so monitor and if any rash then 111.

This may or may not help. as to information on where ...

Tilly the warm compress will soften the area and if it has gone septic it may burst of its own accord and think of the relief!

My local haunt, during my college days, was The Ship. Later, it was The Kings Arms. We may have stood side by side. :-)
there's a new acronym coming APG's way - Abscess-Pimple-Gunner
Tilly can you email your Gp surgery a photo of the bite?
Question Author
I'll have another look at the website, Woof. It would be good to do that. Thank you.
Question Author
Right, I am trying the warm compress.
You could go to see your pharmacist, he/she/they would be able to take a look at it for you.
Question Author
I'll bear that in mind. Thank you, Roopower. I'll see what the warm compress does over the next few days.
Apc...my daughter went to DAHS. Small world...she's half your age. I'm not...I'm the same as you.
We lived 7 miles outside of Bedford. Daughters best mate went to Mark Rutherford.
Sorry to side track, Tilly...and sorry I can't offer tick advice. Hope you sort it.
Question Author
No need to apologise, Pasta. :-)
Makes a change for a teacher to get a tick...
Question Author
I'm actually cross!
