From your original poste which is indeed barren from a medical point of view,it is a matter of "lucky dip"...pays your money and takes your chance.
With the above provisos, I would suggest that it is either a condition called plantar fascists or an acute flare up of osteoarthritis of the ankle.
My advice is to take Ibuprofen 400mgms every 6 hours or more if necessary and monitor the situation for the next 7 days.
9 times out of 10 it’s your footwear. Think about any changes (footwear, movements etc) you made over the period before the pain.
"Plantar fascists"....now, why has Sqad brought politics into this post?
Love that Gingebee :-)
LOL.

I fixed my plantar fasciitis with crocs shoes. The proper fabric ugly design originals, not the cheap knock offs.
I fixed Plantar fasciitis with a few stretching exercises of my foot, and insoles.
my plantar fasciitis did not fix itself and needed a steroid injection; no trouble since then.

However, that was just the sole, no related ankle trouble, so Sqad's suggestion of osteoarthritis may be the answer.
