Why do Celebs etc think it’s fashionable to have hair extensions long pony tails etc, so false, just seen Alesha Dixon on BGT with a big long fake trailing plait.

I can’t bear all the obvious fakeness in a lot of young women nowadays. Clacky plastic nails, huge eyelashes, silly eyebrows etc. They’d be perfectly pretty without all that. But there you go, fashions and tastes change. And I sound like a very old fogey ;)

It's one step on from makeup and costume, it simply enhances the appearance of the celebrity.

It's the same reason anyone adds to their appearance, they believe it enhances the persona they present to the world.

Why would you need to enhance your appearance with
fakeness! Natural is best.
caribeing I take it you have got lovely hair and perfect skin? Anyway, its not your choice, its theirs.
Because it’s just fashion.
I hope that one day awkward frizzy hair will come into fashion. ;)
Not going to happen, and I’m not quite vain enough to sit in a hairdresser’s chair for hours to sort my barnet out.
For some women, like Alesha Dixon, it’s part of the job.
Don't many (most?) young women enhance their appearance with fake hair colours, fake eyelashes, fake fingernails, fake suntans and (even if it's only through the style of bra that they choose to wear) fake bosoms?
Bodily enhancement is almost as old as mankind.
I often wonder how Serena Williams kept her hair clean. After playing those sweaty games, her extension must have stank!

sharon, you wash them!
Michty me, she's stunning isn't she!

"natural" looks washed out on TV; pretty well everyone wears make-up, even men

Women in particular must never look old - even for radio. (Old men are okay.)

as fleabag says: Hair is everything. We wish it wasn't, so we could actually think about something else occasionally, but it is. It's the difference between a good day and a bad day. We're meant to think that it's a symbol of power. That it's a symbol of fertility. Some people are exploited for it and it pays your *** bills! Hair is everything, Anthony.
Caribeing - you Express your personal preference which is fine, but people don't enhance themselves for the benefit of strangers, they do it to make themselves feel better.

Those who think their 'natural' look is fine don't bother, but the vast majority of women like some addition to what they have, and it makes them feel good.

Whatever we may see when we look at them doesn't matter, it's what they see in the mirror that counts.
Thanks for mansplaining Andy Hughes.

I wear what I wear to look as good as possible [to everyone including strangers] as well as to feel good in myself.
I thought he was wrong about that.
Is everything about you natural, Cari?
I just think that false decorated nails, slug eyebrows and puffy lips are horrendous as are ridiculous eyelashes and thick plastered on makeup. They don't enhance the looks of anybody. Make up shouldn't be noticeable in my opinion and it isn't it applied well. A lot of today's females look the same and I think it's a horrible ridiculous look. Not at all attractive.
Yes, I'm another old Fogey.
if applied well!
