Can you pick up coronavirus inhaling other people's smoke or vape fumes? I've been stood 2m apart in queues where people have been smoking and the fumes are blowing around. Can you pick up coronavirus inhaling other people's smoke or vape fumes?

yes, I'd have thought so.
That's a really good question Hooby. I would have thought that what comes out of a persons lungs as 'vape' ie water vapour, could contain the virus , but this would be presuming the virus had got into the lungs and at this point the person vaping might not be well enough to stand in a queue. This is all presumption of course.
if it turned out that covid could be passed on in cigarette smoke would smoking be outlawed altogether?

I don't know the answer, but wouldn't have thought there was any increased risk over breathing in someone's elses exhalation whether vape laden or otherwise.
Good question
if someone has it and they breath out that breath contains the virus, so it follows that cigarette smoke or vape smoke that has been through the lungs can carry it.
Surely this issue has been investigated by medical/ scientific professionals at some time .
in fact the cloud generators are actually demonstrating the range of the virus and the 2m is not enough but it's not meant to stop 100% anyway, it's all about the proportionals
//if someone has it and they breath out that breath contains the virus//

Their breath carries the virus anyway though, so the smoke from vaping or smoking doesn’t increase the risk of infection. Does it?
Smoke or vapour coming from someone's nose or mouth will not travel any farther than their normal breath. The only difference is that it may be visible. So if someone is infected and you inhale their expelled breath you might catch Covid regardless of whether they are smoking, vaping, talking, eating garlic bulbs, or just plain breathing. I'd have thought this was obvious, and some of these answers are just plain silly.
Noaomi, 11:58, yes the breath would have contained it anyway. I was just answering the question.
thechair: which answers are silly?
You may be right TheChair but some smokers/vapours seem to blow out their smoke/vapour and would have thought it left with more momentum than breath from gentle breathing. Maybe the difference isn't significant
As stated above, the vape cloud just makes someones breath visible. When you see how big some of these clouds are, it's not hard to see why this virus and others are so contagious.
" But with vaping" Siegel says "we just dont know"
good of him to tell the truth - Time interview with an expert

Smoking - increases your chances of hospital admission and decreases you chance of needing ventilation - NHS data on admissions ( a lot of them)

I thought The Chair was being unfair about some ABers little goes and efforts to help

There are a few wasted opportunities out there

the experts my dears cannot agree on whether there is important spread by breath ....

excuse me - what did he just write?
the 'experts' can't agree on anything can they?
Nobody 'breathes out' vape fumes they blow it out. Surely blown air travels further than normally exhalations?
Yes, it’s a more concentrated effort with someone breathing out the ‘smoke’ therefore I’d say it would travel further, especially stood outside with a breeze or wind.
If vaping or smoking is liable to heighten the risk of transmitting the virus because the person is making a more "concentrated effort" when the are breathing does this mean that the joggers and mad bikists are a deadly risk to the population at large by gasping and wheezing, and huffing and puffing all over us?
