I suffer from insomnia but the past two nights - I went downstairs at about 4.00am and made some hot milk.

Turned off the light and slept to about 7.30. Can anybody tell me what the hot milk really does.

I suspect that if milk were that useful for insomnia, nobody would need sleeping pills.
Test it out....have milk before retiring tonight and see what happens.
Then, none next night and see the result and so on.
(Can you tell I have a scientific background?)

2nights sleep outta 7 is great, now to try for 3
Question Author
ginge - do you get sleeping pills
If it works, it works.x
jj...never needed them - always sleep like a log and wake up early full of beans! Must be annoying to insomniacs - but we are all different.
Laying in bed trying to sleep when is often counter productive. Actually getting up and making a hot drink, relaxing then going back to bed probably helped more than the actual drink itself. I usually get up and make a cup of tea, have a biscuit with it, then when I go back to bed I'm out like a light.
It's improved by a couple of tablespoons of Green and Blacks hot chocolate!

don't touch tea after 6 o'clock at night - would be a nightmare.

really don't understand how people who drink tea coffee throughout the day expect to sleep,
Question Author
Have never tried these but would Ovaltine, Horlicks help too.

Also wouldn't Hot Chocolate pile on "more" pounds.

Yes you are very lucky Ginge, sleep is wonderful. I have a cousin who just puts her head on the pillow and begins to snore right away, she goes into a coma. Not for me.
Question Author
APG - getting up to make the drink is not relaxing to me - I am like a raped Ape for having to get up.
Well, I don't drink tea at all (yuk!) and only drink de-caff coffee, other than proper stuff at breakfast time.
jesus sorry I spoke...……..only trying to help.
jennyjoan then go get some sleeping tablets. I can't understand why folks put up with insomnia when 7.5mg of Zopiclone would give then a good nights sleep.
> like a raped Ape

Did you mean to write that?
'a raped Ape'?? That's some comparison (lol).
I drink extra strong coffee all day from the moment I get up till I go to bed and have no problem sleeping
Question Author
raped Ape - was meant to be funny - didn't mean to upset you APG - it was tongue in cheek - - however maybe my tongue in cheek. sorry

MM - good for you in getting a good night's = obviously you sleep soundly cos you don't have a conscience like me.

APG - where would you get zopiclone - if you mean doctor - no can do.
Question Author
my American friend taught me that - she used to say when I was in bad form - OMG - here comes the raped Ape.

my American boyfriend at the time, used to say when we were having a drink in America - "Here's to me and here's to you and may we never disagree, but if we do, funk you, here's to me.
Zopiclone, and indeed most sleeping tablets, are only prescribed for a maximum of two weeks these days as they’re highly addictive.
Yes, they’re only available on prescription as far as I’m aware.
