Perhaps we can divert the virus threads to a how judgemental are you one - I think he's absolutely creepy, can't bear to look at him. Weird choice, face for radio. I don't care if he's the expert he was the wrong person to have on a public info video IMO.
Perfect for it... looking death in the face.
Oh gosh, I'm glad I'm not the only one creeped out by him. Couldn't they have chosen someone who looks friendlier or more...normal?
He doesn’t look as healthy as the grim reaper
he's self isolating, so perhaps he isn't all that healthy. Perhaps they could get Peter Kay to read his scripts in the meantime.
On his next pay day he wants to treat himself to a new shirt.
I think he looks sad, worried and exhausted. Did you see the inteview he have when he first said we would be doing well to keep deaths under 20,000? He knew what he was saying and he looked devastated.
Poor man. He can't help how he looks.
Yes I do. I always mute him.
he definitely does not have a face for tv. he probably does not have media training
Having watched him countless times now I've realised the most disconcerting feature is he doesn't blink once until the very end.
I’m just glad he was chosen for his medical skills, not how photogenic he is.

I’m sure when he went to med school way back when he didn’t envisage being the public face for informing about a catastrophic, global pandemic, poor chap.
Peter Kay is in recovery, and a very high risk of contracting the disease.
He's someone's son ….. doing hard and damn soul destroying job........ would you be making fun of his looks if he was looking after you in intensive care ......….just saying...
I agree APG.
I think Chris has kept us informed in a clear, calm and reassuring but not falsely over optimistic manner.

I don't think superficial appearances matter.

I wish him well.
I wouldn't want his job, I admire him for the way he handles things.
That's very good of you to wish him well.
bedknobs I bet he has had media training up the wazoo. My Dh used to get it and regular refreshers because he worked for the oil industry in a senior management role. You are trained to be yourself whoever that is. IMO, knowing a bit about it, his presentation is masterly, clear and concise, deeply felt and the hardest part of all, he completely avoids any innappropriate smiling which is much harder than it sounds. He never hesitates or allows himself to appear flustered, stays on message, doesn't witter or go off at tangents.
