You probably need to instal the drivers for the printer, if it doesn't instal automatically.

Is the printer connected via a cable and switched on?
Can you reinstall it?

Have you installed the drivers for the printer? When you select Print, see if you should see a list of installed printers.
Why am I mentioned in your post, ff? My first answer seems to have disappeared.
The question was originally posted in the wrong category and FF has kindly copied your answer over to this one.
I pasted the two replies in from the duplicate thread as one of the duplicates would probably be removed.
Thanks. Didn't notice that.

Yes, sorry 10CS- I should have stated in my first post that I had copied them from the other thread
Okay well is there an option to change printer. If not then yours hasn't been installed or needs to be installed. Is your printer connected to the laptop/computer via a cable or WIFI?
I've just typed out an answer to your original question which, because someone has deleted it, disappeared into cyberspace when I clicked on 'Answer Now'. (Growl!)

Let's try again!

As 10CS said, it looks like the printer driver isn't recognised, either because it's never been installed or because it's become corrupted. So you need to (re-)install it.

If your computer has a DVD drive (rather than, say, being a slimline laptop that doesn't have one), simply inserting the disk which came with your printer into the drawer should start the setup process, enabling you to install the driver.

If your computer hasn't got a DVD drive, then you'll need to download the driver setup file from the web and then run it. However Google doesn't recognise 'office pro 1970' as a valid printer model, so I can't direct you toward the relevant download. Can you check the make and model please, Henry?

Windows 10 isn't listed as a compatible operating system for your printer on the HP website but that might simply be because the printer was released before Windows 10 existed.

Download the setup software for your printer by clicking on the blue button here:
https://support.hp.com/gb-en/drivers/selfservice/swdetails/hp-officejet-pro-6970-all-in-one-printer-series/8289585/swItemId/mp-245675-1
Once you've downloaded the file, double-click on it to run it.
