As a side issue to Ringlet's recent post, I'm a bloke (I think) and I am losing my hair too, don't know which one, but I'm losing it and I used to have such thick long hair, but I've always struggled with my hair ever since I wore it Beatle fashion at school and got put down to forms and parents didn't even allow me to keep my own hair, so I love long hair and I'm getting sick and tired of feeling it leave my head and am seriously thinking of getting a wig, summat like Ade Edmondson wore as rock guitarist on that sketch show, Comic Strip was it?...or even a Cavalier type wig - I just love long hair and mine used to be, but it isn't any more - and I'm sorry about the rant and there are others worse off than me, but it doesn't help though does it?...any helpful links for blokes Buenchico?

The helpful advice is to accept that which you can not change. You'll avoid being fearful of having your toupee slip and amusing others, for all of your life. You'll feel better within your self too. But feel free to dabble with lotions and transplants and hairpieces if that's what you really wish.
Hi Woodelf - Mamya waves - I certainly don't think it's just women who consider their hair to be their crowning glory and to want to keep what you once had seems fair enough.

However, I shall be blunt and say that I have rarely seen many convincing wigs unless they are professionally fitted and styled each day on men.

The styles you describe sound rather theatrical and may end up looking comical.

I bet I've gone down in your estimation now - sorry. x
Some gals found Kojak attractive...

You're probably right OG and even though it aint vanity, I still miss my hair and it's so unfair, but then why care, just revel in the poem just written there!...smile...and dunner worry Mamya, you're still as importantly necessary as ever, which is a pompous way of saying how nice you are - and there's nowt wrong with being nice - and Shoota, who loves ya, baby!...Big Wavy Smiles around!
Not nice. I dread losing my hair. I'm 71 and still have a full barnet. I'm grateful for that. However, someone I know had lost all of his hair before he was 18. Not very nice. He tried a wig but hated it as people used to laugh at him. Sad. But I suppose it's a question of choice and what you feel happiest with.
Accept it. So many sexy actors with no hair. Jason Statham, is that the right name?
It must be tough to lose your hair. I’d go for the Andre Agassi look and shave it all off.
Perhaps you’re like Elton John who thinks he looks like Shrek without his wig.
Please don’t do the Bobby Charlton combover. I had to tell my dad off for doing that.
men lose their hair as they grow older
look around you
it is a fact of life

I havent, genetically - but it is a gene linked to chronic lung disease.
you dont see a lot of men with COLD

swings and roundabouts

and yeah I would counsel against wigs unless you are a pharaoh
Don't you be worrying about it, woodelf. Look how many birds Phil Mitchel ( Eastenders ) has pulled over the years.
My son started going very thin in his mid 20s. Came home one evening with his head shaved. Must admit I did a double take, but that's the way it's been ever since and he's 50 next week.
You're in good company - our PM's is thinning out although he tries to hide it.

(Me ! Mine started going about 45 years ago, all long gone now.)
As long as the back and sides are kept short it,looks great.
Look at 60's TV dramas when they left it longer and looked like an egg in the nest.
Theland, do you remember Mick Miller ( 70's comedian ).

Hi, a lot of new ABers, to me anyway and I Thank You All and I may as well leave it to nature, eh!...smile...not let it all hang out, just let it all fall out!...smile.
I can well understand why ladies get upset at losing their hair but never understood why men would?
I started shaving my head in my late 20's (when, even then, I had a full head of the stuff). I think that a short, cropped or bald look is better for a male. But that's just my personal preference and opinion.
"You're in good company - our PM"

We clearly differ on what makes good company...
Tony - Yes exactly. A comedian looking like a clown.

Nailit - One of my sons 34 does exactly that, looks great.
Apparently excess testosterone causes hair loss but I prefer long hair on a man. Not attracted at all to boiled egg heads but hey each to their own many people find them sexy. I would advise make the best of what you've got -a wig will just look silly.
I had gorgeous long curls, down to my shoulders in my twenties, but all gone now.

When it dawned on me I was losing my hair, I called my barber and asked for advice, and his advice, taken, I have never forgotten, he said "Go gracefully …" and he was absolutely right.

I have had variations of a Number One, Two, or Three over the years - because it's so curly it looks awful if there are wispy bits so a crop looks and feels better.

What any man losing his hair needs to understand, is that people who are shallow enough to judge you on your hair don't matter, and it's not what people think (they actually don't care!), it's what you think of yourself that matters.

Know you are a nice guy, get your hair cropped, and feel confident about yourself.

The majority of women really care more about what a man is like, than what he looks like, so don't get obsessed, and don't try and pretend, just be bald, and accept it.
//just be bald, and accept it//
Wise words ;-)

I tried to grow my hair back a few years ago (well, not so much tried, more that I couldn't be bothered with my appearance as I was going through a depressive episode at the time) and I looked awful. Bald in all the wrong place and long hair where it wasn't wanted.
Much happier shaving the lot off and to hell what anyone thinks
And not just my head...I hate body hair anywhere, but like I said, just personal preference!
