Uk Embassy Cables Leaked: Brexit Threatened

OK this is not really a brexit thread but I thought it would get the masses to read....
Hasnt anyone noticed that diplomatic cables should be sent in the highest code? ( Japanese purple code etc 1941, and Lorenz cypher 1942-45) so how come last week's were leaked ?
or did the old boy leave them in an unlocked case somewhere ? [like the Falkland plans were]
and the comment - "oh everyone says that in the washington bubble - you have no idea how awful the current administration is"
a further question - what does everyone think?

Knowing that possibilities to leak is a permanent risk and can't be allowed to prevent folk sending that they feel is important. One might argue as to what is entrusted to e-mail but one can't always be around for face to face meetings.
The press were utterly irresponsible to risk international relationships by publishing, unless they had been in on the reason for it being leaked and agreed with it. One might even suspect that some wished Darroch removed from post, but surely that sort of thing could never happen.

The ambassady is coming to an end of his tenure ( washington paree, berlin are the very apex of a diplomats career) and so it reeally may be a Farage supporter -
surely a farage supporter wdnt do this, wd he ? fix up the Nige for washington ?

If diplomats can’t speak freely - I.e. do their job properly for fear of compromise - then that’s a grave matter.
The level of cipher is immaterial. Whoever leaked this didn’t need to break any codes.

It's a plot to scupper Brexit. Antagonise POTUS and bang goes the free Trade agreements that us Brexiteers are told await us. Used to be we couldn't trust the US with our secrets (Enigma code break). Now the Americans not only call us some derogatory remark 'Londonistan' but we have now proved we cannot stop alleged diplomatic files from leaking and falling into the wrong hands.
We know it is the job description for ambassadors to report back the politics of the country they reside.The US Ambassador ,no doubt, reports the fiasco in UK politics at the moment but keeps his comments in house.
IMO this is a deliberate attempt to cause a rift between the UK and US.
