I am not expecting any replies to this as I have asked elsewhere and nobody seems to share this symptom, Does anyone know why I would get a pain in the lower left side of my neck when I am eating? its a throbbing pain and its normally as I get to the end of the meal, I quite often stop eating when I get the pain. The meals are generally healthy. I also sometimes get the same sort of pain in my left side as well. mostly its my neck, I am seeing a doctor about it next week but I was hoping for any advice.

I don’t know, but could it be a blockage in your salivary gland?
Or maybe your jaw slightly out of alignment?
the lower side of your neck is a big place.....do you mean under your jaw or just above your collar bone?
Do you have any difficulty in swallowing....does the food get stuck?
Do you have any earache or hoarseness?

Lower part of the neck just above collar bone at the left side of the neck, no hoarseness or earache. occasionally the exact same pain replicated on my left side just below my ribs
So....no difficulty in swallowing or regurgitating undigested food then?
Question Author
no
O.K...nothing sinister or life threatening comes to mind, but your Dr may suggest sending you to a gastroenterologist for X-Rays and perhaps camera investigation (Endoscopy)

An outside bet, based on what we know so far....Hiatus hernia with gastric regurgitation.....100.1 outsider ;-)

Interesting.. I do have a sliding hiatus hernia, I will update when the doctor has had a look.
Thanks Purist......will be interested.
Yeah. I get a pain in the neck after eating too. But it's because I won't let her have any of my chips. Well she insisted she didn't want any when I put in the order :-(

update: Seen the GP who felt after examination that it was almost certainly my hiatus hernia. Was prescribed some antacids and dietary advice (eating little and often)
Thanks for the feedback.
