49 this year and been having awful night sweats for over a year and also during the day now about 20 a day.
Doc ordered a blood test. FSH test came back 6.7 (normal reading) and Serum Prolactin level was 65. Receptionist told me "all clear - no further appointments required to see doctor" ... Closer looking at the details on the levels on the tests Pre-Menopause Prolactin is results between 71-566mu/L and Post Menopausal Prolactin is between 58-416mu/L. So if my reading was 65 surely I am in between Pre and Post Meno. Very confused.

I had one recently, for different things including menopause (45). Came back negative... but I didn't ask if it checked perimenopause, which can start up to around 10 years earlier, so will be interested to see.

I bought an FSH test kit and both windows turned to pink lines - indicating high levels of FSH but the blood test said no...
It is not my area of expertise but for what it is worth:
Serum prolactin is not a good indicator of menopausal activity, so i would question why this has been done in your case, although I do agree that the result is high and needs further investigation.e.g is your thyroid underactive.

I would agree that FSH is a better indicator of menopausal activity and this is normal...so unlikely that your symptoms are menopausal.

go back to your Dr to question his/her decision not to act on the high Prolactin levels.
Reproductive endocrinology should include LH, TSH and oestradiol. Prolactin isn't going to yield much info regarding menopausal status.

My thyroid was checked and is fine. So maybe the FSH Urine test was wrong showing two pink stripes. Periods are much further apart over the last year and perhaps these awful night sweats and day sweats are something else...thanks all
I meant FSH, not TSH.
