Earache

Since flying back from South America in March, I have had recurrent low level earache in both ears. The discomfort is enough to make me take ibuprofen each evening, when the ache seems to be worse.
Warm olive oil does help but the ache comes back again.

Do I have an ear infection, or will it settle down eventually.?

Not an answer I'm afraid, but I've been suffering similarly after a long-haul flight in March - but it is beginning to get better.

Thanks for answering, Arrods. I'm glad you're on the mend. :-)
Earache alone.....OR earache and deafness?
Question Author
Squad, I have been hard of hearing since I was a child, so I always have poor hearing. My ears do feel really blocked though.
It sounds as though you have blocked Eustachian tubes asa result of your flight. Pop to the chemists and get a Vicks nasal Spray or Otrovine nasal spray and spray into your nose every four hours.
It is extremely unlikely to be an infection.

Thanks, Sqad. I'll do that.
Try Sudafed tablets (the basic ones, not the cold ones) and menthol and eucalyptus inhalations.
