Hi there I'm having my HIDA nuclear scan today and feeling a bit nervous. I phoned the department and asked them if I can take diazepam before the scan they said yes no problems I had to fast last night so I'm flipping hungry. When my consultant referred me he asked me if I have ever had a problem with buscopan and I said I didn't know if I had it I stupidly looked at it on the net and it said it can give you a fast heart rate and I have atrial fibrillation occasionally. Also is it ok to take 10mg of diazepam on an empty stomach I am a regular user 2/3 times a week of 5mg so I don't think 5ng would touch me and it is a 20 mile drive up to the hospital on a motorway which my dad is kindly taking me I really want to have this done. I had a scone with butter and jam yesterday with a friend and I was in pain all afternoon so I need to find out what the problem is. I will probably be back on this afternoon telling you all what a doddle it was

Ran out of space sorry do they give you buscopan to relax the stomach in preparation for scan to get better view?
I cannot answer your technical queries gordie, but things will be fine, easy to say I know, but try not to get yourself to worked up. Let us know how things go, if you want to. Xx
No gordie, you will not be given Buscopan....it would defeat the object of HIDA.
Diazepam 10 mgms ....no problem providing that someone else drives.

No big deal.
I hope today went well for you gordie
