Hi there I am having stomach problems again classic biliary colic pain in between shoulder blades under rib cage right hand side but ultrasound showed no gallstones. Consultant thinking biliary dyskinesia or dysfunctional spinchter of Oddi. On Thursday I am going to have a HIDA nuclear scan where they inject me with radioactive dye and see how my gallbladder contracts I am a wee bit nervous about it anyone had one ?

You will glow in the dark for a few days afterwards.
Should be no side affects unless you are pregnant or breast feeding. Might glow in the dark for a bit until the radio active dye passes naturally through the system. :-)
Thanks balders for confirming.:-)
Ask them to check their calculations and ask to see the sticker on the machines to show when they are last calibrated
No...I haven't, but i am sure there will be an ABer that has.......particularly as the post is in CB ;-)
No big deal....will take about an hour....no pain....that's it.
Not a scan but my wife had an injection of a radio-active solution. No ill effects but the doctor dropped some of the solution on his shoe.He told us later that he had to bury his shoes.
I laughed at that dannyk13, but I know from my own experience with radioactive isotopes that these things happen. The guys that remove low level radioactive waste pails from the laboratories I work in have told me they've found all sorts of stuff in them including a waistcoat and a pair of female underwear in the past. The mind boggles but like your doctor, whoever dumped them didn't observe protocol.
danny.........I suppose the shoes were dug up in Shoeburyness?
theprof, was he wrong in burying them?
lol @ Sqad
Brilliant Sqad lol. Yes, he was dannyk13. Regardless of the isotope used by the doctor, there are strict protocols that have to be adhered to in labs and hospitals up and down the country. All facilities have to have a designated safety officer who specialises in radioactive waste disposal on site and these guys would throw the book at him if they found out what he had done. In this case, he'd get a roasting for wearing his own shoes rather than the disposable overshoes or suchlike that they supply.
He was wrong in burying them from a safety point of view, but I would want to know the isotope before condemning the guy outright.
Sorry can't help you with that the material was administered due to faulty platelets.
