Normal?

I have been on the pill for at least 12 years had small breaks before. But I’ve forgotten what normal is. I’ve recently came off Noriday to see how my cycle is to see how I’ll fair in conception (periods are a nightmare usually for me).

Since stopping I’ve noticed an improvement in my sugars and diabetes. But my appetite can be horrendous or non existent. I am also eating better, more fruits and veg and more water and less juice. My hair growth is pretty rapid, a small whisker on my face has re-appeared, my temperature is one or the other - I’d happily go stand outside right now in shorts and tee, my moods up and down (psycho side still AWOL). Gynae area quite a few twinges and my discharge is very jelly like (TMI sorry) no current requirement for pain relief.

Is my body just resetting to a normal setting - what ever normal is for me. I don’t remember having to shave every 2 days. No sign of a period yet and I’m definitely not pregnant. How long will it take to fully settle?

Yes. It sounds like you are experiencing withdrawal symptoms.

Normal for women can vary quite drastically different. It depends if you're anywhere near to the menopause.
Cervical mucus certainly can appear "gell like". I wouldn't worry about that.

If the thickness is changing, it means you're going through your cycle. Different stages of the cycle will mean different textures of discharge. Perfectly normal.
The reason this happens (gell like / fluctuating consistency of discharge) is due to hormone levels fluctuating. If you've come off a pill that you've been on for a while then, well, i would assume that has a huge affect on hormone levels.

Thank you Spathi. I’m only 30 so hopefully a wee bit away from the Menopause. It’s easy to forget simple things like what you mentioned. I have been on Noriday (Progesterone only) for about two and a half to three years.

Thank you again though
All sounds quite normal to me Queenie. It sounds like your hormone levels just fluctuating until they level out again.

I would monitor the situation. I would think two weeks and you'll feel "normal".

Hormone levels can change for many reasons, due to cycle, old age or even environment (ie a stressful one).
I used to take Logynon and they took me off that because of my diabetes and migraines, and once I came off the pill my periods returned to normal almost straight away. I became pregnant very quickly too so fingers crossed for you if that's what you are aiming for xxx

Phew...can guarantee though I’m as calm as a clam right now. I will keep an eye on it. I’ve downloaded an app to keep track of everything.

Thank you Calicogirl. It is my aim, I’ve got a bit of work to do though before I get there but I will get there xx
Just make every night a 'date' night and I'm sure it'll happen quickly ;-) x
You will just have to wait and see.
Spath, how the hell do you know all that at your age?
I thought spath was a man. Apologies if I've got that wrong, spath.
Spath is in and out of people's gardens. He learnt about the birds and bees.
Hmmm...spath is a man...and a young one from what I gather.
And unless he has definite medical knowledge or first hand experience , I really think he shouldn't post.
That's just my thoughts.
In fairness to Spath, some reassurance and general advice was asked for and he gave it - Queenie knows there's a disclaimer at the head of the topic.
Mamya I'm not saying what he said was wrong. As he has said he's about 20 and a gardener I think it quite fair to ask him how knows about the normality and consistency of cervical mucus.
My response followed Pasta's comment Prudie.

We are an open site and we all know that anyone can reply to anything, asker beware of course.

Nothing whatsoever wrong with your response or indeed anyone else's, just adding mine.
Playing Doctors and Nurses as a 4 year old is quite an eye opener. :-)
LOL retro

would it make a difference if i was a lady?

I have a Ms, and it's good to know what's natural and what's not. I also do the washing in our home... I also have a mother. It's good to talk about these things. All perfectly fine and normal.
I also have a decent knowledge of hormones as my thyroid levels haven't been perfect before so i've done research. In doing so you discover many factors and variables can affect hormone levels. And reading queenies OP, it would seem everything she has described from the flushes to appetite even to sugar levels can all be affected by hormones. And everyone knows contraceptive pills play havoc with them, so coming off of a pill you will notice a lot of differences.

Regarding the cycle, being on a pill will prevent a natural cycle (obviously) so i assume discharge would be consistent. Now off of pill and hormones changing, cycle starting to turn again, it is to be expected that the consistency of the discharge will also.

If queenie is worried, or would like some serious medical examination, i'm sure she can visit her GP
