Hi, i went to A&E early hours saturday morning due to extreme pain in my left side (back/stomach, kidney area)
A CT scan showed i have a plum size cyst on my ovarie.
I was told there was nothing to be done for it, if im sick or have an high temp to go back.
The pain is still really bad not helped by a cough i had.
I've googled this and from what ive read there shouldn't be this much pain.
As anyone else experienced this and been in pain with it?
Thanks x

I would go to a doctors ASAP and explain the issue and discomfort you're in.

Failing that i would go back to A&E
I’d recommend seeing a Gynaecologist- ovaries do get cysts that come and go but if it’s large they can be removed. You may need to see a GP first to be referred.
It seems a good suggestion to ask your GP to be referred then this can be followed up - they usually monitor cysts like these for a while as they can settle after a while.

Thankyou for replies x i went to the doctor's last week when the pain started, the doc was in the process of referring me but then the pain got so bad i went to A&E.
What's worrying me is people saying "Oh it's nothing, it shouldn't hurt"
But it is painful x
go and see your GP, get referred to a Gynae and keep record of menstrual cycle etc., as they ask you these things, if there is any change, maybe bleeding between periods or anything, I can't believe you were sent home following a CT scan. Be sure to stress how much pain you are in when speaking with your GP, I hope you get this sorted soon

To answer your last question, I have experience of similar, only recently and ended up with a very nice Dr in a nice hospital in the Capital.
Oh, your reply wasn't there when I typed, go back to GP and tell him/her what happened in A&E and could they go ahead with the referral
I have/had polycystic ovaries and there was no pain, the problems were systemic and hormonal.

The people that I know of who had A cyst have said that it hurts. I don't know if they linger or go away and don't come back.

If it is causing you pain there has to be a reason - they can burst and that can't be a good thing.
""Oh it's nothing, it shouldn't hurt" "

I had a cyst on my testicle. It was the worst pain I've ever encounted. I also ended up in A&E they did an emergency operation to remove it, i spent over 6 months recovering.

It can hurt, i trust you on that.

I assume the places are as equally tender.

Thanks so much ducksie x
Ovarian Cysts MAYBE painful.
I presume that the A&E doctor gave you pain relief e.g Ibuprofen or similar.
Monitor the situation over the next 48 hours and if the pain persists or gets worse, then go back to A&E.
The is no point in seeing a Gynaecologist at this stage.
A friend of my daughter had an ovarian cyst. We called an ambulance as she was in so much pain, she looked like she was in absolute agony.
How did that end up rocky? that's what Jonah Hart is asking
If I remember rightly, she was in hospital overnight, and I think they drained the cyst (I might be wrong there, though). She vomited a lot whilst in A&E.

She seems fine now
Ah poor girl, glad she's ok, I'm sure if Jonah looks in, that will be a help to her :)

The doctor at the hospital said if im sick or have a high temp to go straight back, luckily i haven't, i gipped brushing my teeth last night and the pain was bad just from that
You're welcome Jonah, I do hope you'll feel stronger soon xx at least there's no high temperature or nausea - that's good :)
