Have made a GP appointment but it's not til Tues. Wondered if anyone else had had this: the back of my head low down behind my ear as it joins my neck is really bumpy, bigger than the other side. The past day or two it's started to hurt so I can't lie on my left side in bed as the pillow pressure hurts it. It hurts if I touch it. Feels like the sort of pain a large spot might produce but I can't feel one or see anything other than a large lump. Any ideas?

Do you have a heightened temperature?
Nowhere near enough information.
For how long have you felt this lump?
Is it boney hard, hard or soft?
Have you had any problems with your scalp? infections or itching?
Sounds like a possible enlarged lymph node, take pain relief until you can get seen or get the appointment brought forward if it gets unbearable.
Swollen glands?
I had a similar experience some years ago... I had chicken pox:-(

No infection or temperature although I have had the cold flu thing but am now out the other side of it. Had what I thought was a bit of a spot/redness in my left ear a while back but that went. Have had the lump for probably a year or so but no pain. Just thought it was a slightly odd shaped skull. Think I got a doc to look at it once and they said that skulls were all bumpy and uneven. The raised/painful bit is moveable and soft on top of the hard skull bit. Think it's too high up to be glands- it's not jaw, it's base of head behind my ear.
Sounds like a lymph gland.......no big deal and quite common in that area. Stop poking it and it won't hurt.
Nothing sinister.
Bubonic plague has the same symptoms;-)
