Stargazer why will your GP not prescribe them for you? Don't buy anything online, you will not know what you are getting.

there's usually a reason why things are available only on prescription (though the requirements do vary from country to country, and it can be irritating to see something you want on a shelf in Walmart when you know it's unavailable in the UK)

You cannot get to see a doctor now where I live (unless you phone at 8.00 am with such an urgent reason to be actually seen.) There are several hundred new houses just been completed with no allowance for the thousand more potential patients so it is now up to me to access my own medication as I know what I require!

can't you just request a repeat prescription slip ? no need to see gp then..

You may only need to go once. If the doctor identifies a painkiller taht you need it may be easy to get repeat prescription facility or a supply for a reasonable period

Would your gp prescribe them anyway if you could see him or her. Most are getting into other options like physio and the like. You could try an online medic who does consultations but that service costs and even then you can't be sure they are genuine.

how do people get non=urgent appts at your urgery

Sure. You see your GP, they diagnose your health issue and write you a prescription, then you take that to the pharmacist.

It's not just a case of whether it's illegal, is it sensible? Many strong pain killing drugs are addictive, which is why some doctors won't put them on repeat prescription, as they want to monitor usage.
