Christmas excess.. and I was doing so well! I have noticed that after eating sugary food I get full of adrenaline, jittery, nervous kinda butterflies in my stomach. I am sure this is linked with eating the sugar, but does anyone know what causes it?

I think it's quite common when overrindulging , especially in sweet stuff - I'm not technical but the body reacts to the sugar spike and releases chemicals that can temporarily give the jitters.

A lot of doctors completely discount sugar rushes but others agree they are real.

I presume you've checked there's no other underlying factors?
I seem to remember reading that eating sugar releases dopamine...a "feel good" hormone, among others.

Do you drink coffee?
It sounds to me like the affect of too much caffeine., either from too much chocolate, tea, coffee or coca cola.
