I found out today that Boots will no longer hold repeat prescriptions and order in your medicine for you. Yet another service, which in the main affects the elderly and those with long term conditions, taken away. It is not easy getting old.

It's still on their website: https://www.boots.com/online-prescriptions/repeats

Could it be the particular Boots you are with for some reason? I really hope that they don't stop as I get my repeats from there and it's very convenient for me. It must bring them in extra business though, with so many people going in to collect prescriptions.

All the assistant said to me was that Boots were no longer allowed to do it so I assumed that was the entire company. I hope not for your sake. Maybe it is just here in Wales.
My local chemist collects and delivers my prescriptions, free of charge. Fabulous service, if Boots will no longer do it I'm sure others will
Ask your surgery. Every single person I know who needs repeat prescriptions gets them delivered to their door if they ask. Most chemists do it especially those near a surgery. I am talking about England if that makes a difference.
Support your local independent pharmacy if you can, rather than the big chain.

Chances are they'll give better service.
that's stupid of Boots. Everyone and his dog is getting in on the act.
My Boots usually screwed up every repeat prescription I entrusted them with. They are adjacent to my GP centre and was forever shuttling between twixt to get the bloody script sorted. Both Pharmacy and GP receptionist both blamed each other for their ineptitude so I told them to shove their repeat prescription texting fiasco and reverted back to picking up script at GP,checking it first and presenting it in personally to the pharmacy next door (Boots) Did it no more than 5 hrs ago.
Between them they couldn't organise a Woodpeckers Picnic in Sherwood Forest. Grrrrr
Retro, why not use a different pharmacy?
More likely to be your Local Clinical Commissioning group withdrawing the service from Boots for some reason.
Our residential/nursing home used to use Boots for medication. We had to count and check everything that came in and always had to send back a quarter/ third of them because they were wrong.
Please check what you get sent wherever you get them from.
Wouldn't touch Boot's with a bargepole. They've gone seriously downhill over the past 50 years.
Tyrion, I would advise you to try an independent pharmacy and see how it goes. My local surgery (I have a choice of just the one where I live) has its own pharmacy. Nearly every month they have a problem with my 10 med prescription. I cannot believe they cannot get their act together, it is the same prescription every month for goodness sake. I wish you better luck with yours :)
I considered using them ladybirder but there were some very bad reviews I found on line including prescriptions being woefully late.
Choux sorry to hear that. They are OK around here but I suppose it could depend on the area. Here's another one, perhaps better (I hope).

Thanks everyone for your advice. I am going to look into alternative chemists tomorrow.
Our Health Centre has a computer based system called Emiss . Once you are on it all you have to do is tick the medicines for that month, the doctor prescribes on his computer and this is sent down to the chemist(Lloyds in our case). Then it is delivered to the person's home. Any appointments ,such as flu jabs, clinics etc.are put onto your computer. Ideal for housebound people.
Ours uses 'patient access'. I can order repeats, book appointments, and soon i will be able to see test results.
I use a small local pharmacy for my repeat prescriptions - excellent service.
