When I take my 4 teeth out I am left with cuts, blisters, just generally unpleasant gums.

When the teeth are out - I constantly suck at the gums and I think this causes the gums to split blister cut etc.

I am at my wits end as to what to do - dentist hasn't been much help

I know for a fact that it is not the £3,500 titanium teeth, nor £650 valplast teeth - no not their fault - it is my sorry state of my gums.

How can i stop this sucking - my tongue never leave the gums alone which doesn't allow the healing process

That's a very difficult thing to solve jj - it's instinctive really.

I don't know what to suggest.
can you get something lilke one of those night guards, and leave it in? Dentists make them to fit your teeth.
I was also thinking about a night guard as well.
I wear one at night to protect my implants, that I had fitted last year. It felt a bit awkward at first, but now I hardly notice it.
Sounds like something that requires becoming conscious of doing it and the willpower to cease, until not doing it becomes a habit.

Maybe hypnosis can help ?
G'morning Jenny......You have mentioned 'titanium', consequently my thought are that you could be allergic to the metal.

Am I right in assuming that you have a titanium plate fitted with four false teeth?. A very expensive 'set-up' at over £4000.

It would be interesting to hear what medics in AB have to say about metal allergies.

just to confirm after buying and using titanium - I tried them for about 6 months or longer - then bought the valplast which would be fine if my gums were in order.
It is my opinion that running your tongue over your gums will not cause blisters, cuts etc. I take the view that you could be allergic to both titanium and valplast. Consequently, as your Dentist is expensive and of little help to you, perhaps you should have a few words with your GP.
