Can anyone tell me what the proportion of men to women it is that are diagnosed with dementia/Alzheimers. It seems that whenever we see someone on television or in the newspapers, more than likely it is a man - is it a coincidence or a fact.

I've not noticed any gender bias.
About 60% are female, because they live longer.
After working in dementia units for years, I can assure you it is mostly women that are affected, as Pixies says, its usually because women live longer. I currently have 4 females with dementia compared to one man.
I have worked in 3 care homes and by far the most dementia patients are women. But as said, there are more women than men in care homes anyway as they live longer.
