Well these hot flushes are getting much worse... hot all night. Always have a massive hot flush in the morning, racing heart - go into a panic mode for about 15 minutes. Body constantly aches and brain fog is horrible - Makes me feel so ill and washed out. Not very good at taking tablets though... anybody use the patches?

I did but sadly they turned me into a raging harridan with hot flushes and dizzy spells....but that was some 20 years ago and there are now more options. If the flushes are a particular issue then I understand that there is a non hormonal solution but its a tablet.

Thank you Woofgang
I had a demanding job and found that the symptoms were impacting on this. I took HRT for about a year and it certainly helped me as I was able to cope much better with these demands.

Yes Milo.. Same with me. Thanks
I never used HRT ever but found one year that I took St John's Wort for a year and found through that year I was very calm. I think it helped me. But then it was £25 a month so could prove expensive for you.
Not patches but tablets for several years, made me feel fantastic. Knocked years off me, didn't want to come off them;-)
If you are unsure about hrt, there are a few antidepressants, mild dose, you can take that not only calmed you down but reduces hot flushes greatly. Have a word with gp.
I started the menopause at thirty one, Millie......I was so ill I could barely function and almost lost my job, marriage and sanity....
When I finally got the HRT patches MrG had to lift the duvet and stick them on my bum....I was so out of it....
Took a couple of weeks but I felt wonderful......like LB I looked younger and fitter.....life was so good...
I stayed on the patches for about twenty five years....just to make sure they were working, you understand.... ;-)
Early menopause after hysterectomy, HRT gave me my life back.

Thank you all. My female colleagues have also said they were much better after taking HRT. I have a doctors appointment at 9am tomorrow morning see what he recommends hopefully the patches. So tired of feeling a wiped-out emotional wreck on a daily basis just and that feeling of impending doom of another hot flush. Do you think the Doctor will want a blood test performed to confirm menopause?
Doubt it, clinical signs May well be enough
I didn't have blood tests, Millie.....I think my tearing my hair out in his surgery and threatening to kill the next person who even looked the wrong way at me was enough..... :-)

LOL gness... well I am pretty much sure Doc will agree Menopause. No other previous health problems. Night sweats for about 3 years now. 3 months with the awful headrush flushes almost every day. 48 Next birthday. Periods went from 28 days to 21 days about 3 years ago now, but still 21 days regular at the moment.
Let us know how you get on, Millie.......it can be a big decision with all the scares you read about....but for me it really was a life saver....x
