I presume that you mean repair of pharyngeal pouch.
There will be plenty of websites forthcoming on AB, but here is my contribution based on personal experiences.
The operation is either:
a) external... an incision into the neck.
b) endoscopic.. no incision but the operation performed through a special endoscope.

The external approach is the most popular.
However, the endoscopic approach has it's protagonists of which i am one. It is in this operation that the pouch is not excised, but the mouth of the pouch is stapled.
In the external (incisional approach) the pouch is completely excised.

Any queries...........don't hesitate to get back to us.

Thanks Sqad. I,m getting the endoscopic version, apparently,
Had the pre-med in Feb.
Great......yiou will only be in a couple of days.....maximum.
No pain and no stitches to be taken out.
I have a pouch and was offered the choice of the two types of procedure - I had been misdiagnosed with my complaint but self-diagnosed and went back (embarrassment on specialist's part). I was told that there is about a 15% return/repeat incidence (staple one, if I remember correctly). I declined and live happily with the condition, having learned to empty the pouch myself since getting confirmation of the correct diagnosis.
