'Nephritis' simply means that one or both kidneys have become inflamed. It doesn't define the cause. So, without knowing the cause, it's impossible to say for certain what course of action might need to follow.

However this might be relevant:

That is NOT a prognosis, that is a diagnosis.
The next step is staging it and the treatment will depend upon the stage.
Might I say, that the diagnosis of nephritis is not the whole story in my opinion as i have been following your posts carefully.

As soon as his kidney infection clears he will be moved to Hammersmith hossie to a specialist. He says he feels treasured & impressed with NHS excellent treatment.
Prognosis is his chances for the future (good or bad prognosis)
Diagnosis is the name of his/her illness.
They will sort him out at the Hammersmith.

Specialist says son has scleroderma, a rare autoimmune disease. Checking NHS www his symptoms dont fit :-/
Ah!!! tambo, now we are getting somewhere and Scleroderma does come to the fore (I am sorry but I have lost the trend of past posts)
However, I do remember his fatigue, his upper gastrointestinal symptoms (he had a gastroscopy I think), his general feeling of unwell and his loss of weight. There was a suggestion when he collapsed of heart problems and just yesterday you you mentioned Nephritis in you tread headed "At Last."

Well tambo....AT LAST a diagnosis that makes sense..SCLERODERMA.
good I am glad he has a diagnosis - ( label )

they will assess him and plan a treatment plan - THEY will be able to tell you on the results what could be in store ....
