It's come up a few times of late that for example Gary Barlow hasn't washed his hair for 10 years etc.Now I know that apparently after a few months it gets back as nature intended by use of the body's own processes. So do they just rinse it on water or what? I mean of they get their hair full of dirt somehow do they just use plain water or what?

I would assume so. I would wonder about going swimming and what effect that would have, and hair products, how would they get them out?
my old gran never washed her long hair she just brushed it a lot then wound it into a bun ,it never smelt or looked dirty .
Let it shine
Just let it shine
My one brother has flaxen hair half way down his back, and he has for years and years just washed it in plain water, and he looks like a shampoo advert, his hair is amazing. I tried it and gave in after 6 days it grossed me out so much, but apparently if you persevere your hair becomes wonderful and his certainly is.
Who knows? You can't speculate! It has to come from the person not doing 'the normal'. I personally do not like lank greasy hair especially in myself. I cannot imagine a long time with not washing one's hair and feeling good about it. Someone following this regime is the person to ask.
Head would be crawling with mites - yuk!
They must mean that they rinse it but don't use shampoo.

I have only recently come to terms with not washing my hair every day. It seems as we get older we are more susceptible to eczema of the scalp so I was advised not to. I can just about manage two days, providing I can still rinse it in the shower on the day I don't wash it.
Tambo....utter tosh!!
Surely he must have had his hair cut in all those years and if he did then new hair would be growing all the time. So it wouldn't have been the same head of hair for ten years. What about when he showered etc.? Or did he just let it grow ?

that's the point dunnitall, the hair has natural processes that keep it in good condition but we just get used to using detergent. I've seen a few medical programs on it.
My aunt done it to my cousin when she was young. She got nits though and to treat them it took her back to square one. Her hair did look Lovely after a couple of months. It must be so much easier for a bloke with short hair.
Cant remember the last time that I washed my hair ;-)

Remember reading recently an interview with some celeb z-lister that he only ever used conditioner on his hair and hadn't used shampoo for years.
My hair turns greasy after just one day no matter what shampoo i use. I could never be tempted to go much longer without washing it.
Natural oils would make it appear in good condition. I'm not convinced it would be particularly clean though. I don't bath or shower in just plain water, or even clean the house with it... dishwasher, washing machine... I'm not sure why your scalp or hair would be any different.
I never washed my hair for over 20 years, never had better hair. My hair was long and I went about on motorbikes all the time, tangles would brush out very easily
I knew a guy who decided that soap was not necessary and went "natural". He had permanent bad BO.
