we were told he had cancer in his good kidney and bladder but the junior doctor got it wrong, it's in his duff kidney ,the growth is mainly in the tube connecting kidney to his bladder so they are removing the kidney and a small piece of bladder .we were both so relieved when we got these results it could have been so much worse, it looks like it was caught early .he has the op about 6 weeks time then 6 weeks doing nothing .they will biopsy the bladder part again but the doctor was quite happy that things will be ok .i did say it frightened the life out of us when told it was his good kidney and he apologised .

That's such good news Mally, I hope all goes well. I think I might be a tad cross with that junior doctor - and that's putting in mildly!
OMG ! Don't know if I'd be more angry than relieved..... wishing him well xx
Ohhhh I couldn't be happier, such good news, so happy for you xxx
So good to hear good news for a change. Fingers crossed this continues.

yes i was really cross but the relief outweighed the anger ,the consultant said junior doc didn't know her left from right so it sounds like she may have got a telling off .
mallyh that is good news. Best of luck to both of you. xxx
good news hope all goes well for hubby x
good news, good luck to both of you,,
What a relief x
Good news.
I guess we're all only human, don't aoeays get it right. Perhaps better to suspect the worse and find it isn't so bad.
Glad to hear this, Mally. It is good news.
I've just read your original thread on this. What a tremendous relief this must be. Best wishes to you both.
Hope the junior doc gets a darned good telling off.

A huge relief for you both, wish you both all the best xx
// Hope the junior doc gets a darned good telling off. //
or the consultant

I did wonder why a junior was telling your husband he had incurable cancer - you should write to an administrator and say the reason why it shojld be a consultant is that a
'whoops no it is OK - sozza about that - is the football on?' is less likely to occur.

Sqad may say - oo no consultants are too busy doing good in the Hospital and elsewhere to bother with cancer diagnoses and treatment for each patient. No - in the modern day - they aren't.
Did the junior doc literally '[not] know her left from right'?
Quite worrying in a doctor!
// the consultant said junior doc didn't know her left from right //

hmm situation normal - cack up - blame the junior staff, the anaesthetist and then the nursing staff
The last two options not really open here.

he is diverting blame from himself
he only does good see? so anything wrong is s/o else's fault
I meant to add it's great that the prognosis isn't as bad as you feared.
A Consultant should ALWAYS tell the patient about a malignancy.....and if he is not available, then it would be a registrar, senior if possible. Never a junior.
The problem is that today, anyone other than a consultant is called a junior...........however.....the bottom line is that it is good news.

I noticed that the "junior" was female....and you all know how i feel about female doctors.....;-)
I hope you are joking about the last bit Sqad.
Hoppy......in the main.......NO....I wasn't joking.
