Fungal Nail Infection

Back in October my granddaughter accidentally sold on my foot with a pair of roller skates on. In the New Year I noticed that my toenail was dark and discoloured but not, painful.

In February I went to see the Nurse Practitioner about it and she said she thought it had a fungal infection. She prescribed the Loceryl Nail Lacquer and I was asked to give them a nail clipping to be checked out.

They rang me this morning and told me that there was no infection, but to keep applying the lacquer and to give them some further nail clippings for further checking.

What is wrong with my nail if there’s not an infection? TIA.

Sorry Chrissa I cant answer your query but I did chuckle when I read the opening line. I imagined your granddaughter putting your foot on eBay.
can toe nails bruise ?
No evidence of infection......no pain.....cuttings negative for fungus.
This is what is known as a subungual haematoma (bruise) no big deal and may take months to get back to normal.
No treatment needed. Well played to Murray ;-)
given the time lag the nail might have been damaged in the accident and now be growing out.
