I’ve just picked up my next prescription of Temazapam. No phone calls, no letters with the medicine.

Are they going to leave me alone for another year, do you think?

Fingers crossed.

I'm glad you've got it, if you need to discuss it with them then do so.

Tough when your safety net is under threat.
Happy to hear that, Chrissa......Gx
Are they trying to get you off it? Temazepam- I think- was changed from a semi-controlled drug to a Controlled drug in the last couple of years, so they may still try to change that. Really, you should be on high enough antidepressants that you barely need the temazepam. Treat the cause and not the symptoms. But as long as you are ok xx
Ah- thanks mamya x that makes sense. Whether they leave you alone or attempt to change it will be strongly related to age as well. I would ask them as many questions as you want to know, chrissa. But I understand- stability is vital.

Thanks guys. Am I too old or too young, pixie. I’m a baby boomer. ;)
Up to you:-). Your doctor is trying to treat it properly, if that's any consolation, but I would ask for an appointment, talk and hopefully reassure yourself that everything is being looked after. You don't need the uncertainty, but i appreciate what they are thinking xx
It's sad you have been put in the position of anxiety chrissa.
I hardly ever used them but doc wouldnt repeat the prescription as she said they could cause Alzheimers

Gollocks, smurf.
Well your Doctor is completely wrong, smurfchops - there is no proven link whatsoever between Alzheimer's and the use of Temazepam.

https://www.medscape.com/viewarticle/858249

There are some worries about very long term use of some other benzodiazepines (eg Valium) - but even in these cases nothing is absolutely proven.
Well thats odd. Anyway I will manage without, even though I wake every two to three hours!! I blame it on hormones.
It seems (from doing some reading whilst I was a professional trainer in how to care for people with Alzheimer's and Dementia), that often the apparent link was because people who already had the early signs of Alzheimer's were prescribed Valium etc to help with the anxiety that the symptoms were causing.

So it then could give the appearance that the Valium was causing the illness - when in fact it was being used to treat it.

Thanks for that, s-d.
