Has anyone else ever been advised by their GP to stop taking beta blockers due to not really needing them any more. If so, what effects have been felt when coming off these tablets and over what period of time.

The reason that you're taking beta blockers might make a difference. If, say, you've been taking them (either on their own or with other drugs) for blood pressure problems then, if the doc is satisfied that they're no longer needed, I can't think of any reason why they couldn't be immediately stopped (with no ill effects). Hi Jenufa, I had to come off them due to Raynauds in my fingers. It effected me terribly. I though my heart would explode! I have very fast heartbeat. You don't have to stop beta blockers gradually for anxiety either. You can just stop and use them if and when you need them. They aren't addictive and don't cause withdrawal either.
No effects....no big deal.....just stop them.
What are you REALLY worried about?
Didn't need them any more as had heart issue sorted out, felt much better as wasn't having the bradycardia and the postural drop any more!
