My Dad has dementia and me and my sister are POA. My mum has just found out that her name was never on the title deeds of house as back 50 years ag my dad was the only one working as mum had two small children being my sister and I. So obviously Dad took the mortgage out in his name as well as title deeds being solely in his name. They both have made wills when they retired before Dad was diagnosed with dementia. How can we protect my mum now to ensure she is not homeless if Dad had to go into a home? I am sure we cannot just add her to title deeds now due to POA being in place but we know Dad wants this?

There is no need to do anything and you are worrying unnecessarily. Your mother will inherit the house as per the Will. However, if you still want to add your mother's name to the Title Deeds this is the starting point: https://www.gov.uk/registering-land-or-property-with-land-registry/transfer-ownership-of-your-property Don't hesitate to...

I assume they are married
am not a legal person, but what does the Will say?
Does Dad's Will say he's leaving everything to Mum?

Do hope someone comes along shortly with sound advice.

If your mother is living in the property it will not be sold to pay dad's fees whilst she is living there.

Yes they are married have been for 50 years. My Dads will leaves everything to my Mum. It basically was an oversight all these years. Back then when you had a mortgage it obviously had to be in the name of person paying which my Dad did as Mum was looking after me and my sister full time. Mortgage was always paid out of their joint account. Just need to know, with POA in effect, can we still add my Mums name to title deeds. Dads will obviously remain on them also as not removing his name to just my mums but joint title deeds?

Don't hesitate to contact the Land Registry - they are very helpful
if she is living there she will not be homeless - social services will pay for the care home, and recoup the money from the sale of the house after your mum dies (if she is indeed the second death). Putting her on the title deeds won't make any difference
