her operation in August.? She has had a lot of trouble with it since and yesterday had to be taken to hospital because they have found it has leaked..again.!But this time they think where it was stuck it has come away. Her doctor sent her for an xray because he wasnt very happy with the pain she was in.. Hospital rung after xray and told her to go straight in.. which she did... they took 15 tubes of air out...but still some in there. In your opinion do you think its likely she will need the op again.? many thanks Brenda xx

Well lilac first of all, thank you for the update....I remember it well.
She has had a tough time and clearly there still is a leakage of air which has been removed.
Now ...will she need another operation? Well that depends upon the amount of air left in the chest and if that amount of air increases in volume.
If the amount left is of moderate to small volume, then it may well absorb without further surgical procedure, but if it is more than a moderate amount and it gets larger over time, then of course it will need resealing.
Her clinical condition and the appearance of further check X-Rays will determine further management.

Thankyou sqad...the doctor said last night it looks like the bottom of the seal wasnt stuck..,hence the leak...which make me wonder if it has been there all along...as on the after her op she thought her long had gone again as she was in so much pain but was told it was just a panic attack? to be honest she came home with the pain and was told it would ease off...which really and truly hasnt gone away at all... just a few episodes when she has got breathless and in more pain then before... Infact she is still on oromorph from the doctors plus paracetomals when really bad ...which she is still taking.... something tells me this has been like it all along.? But surely not??? am I wrong to think this.? Brenda xx

From what you have described, i cannot think of a better explanation.
