Itchy Skin

anyone out there got severe itchy skin? its not the usual conditions seen 5 dermatologists and none can get it under control tried so many tablets and creams nothing works,can anyone help please...

I'm thinking neuropathic itch. It's the kind of itch that gets worse every time you scratch to relieve it. Perhaps mention it to your doctor.

Perhaps you can try to work out which ones the dermatologists might not have considered?

thanks guys,was even thinking of taking mum to Harley street dermatologists?think they have a clinic in leeds and Manchester? I feel they not bothered enough they havnt got a clue if they havnt experienced it themselves!!

I am with Tilly if 5 dermatologists can't help and they have actually examined her, I can't see how an online forum can help.
I would not bother going to Harley Street I don't think they will come up with something new , I was told itching skin can sometimes have no known cause!

It could be genetic, look at the answer you got on 21st June, in related posts underneath here.
In that case there is no cure or 'normal' cause it's just part of your genetic makeup.

This lady has seen 5 Dermatologists, medically qualified, post graduate diplomas in Dermatology and we get posts such as these:

Yes, Patsy, suggest that she goes back to her "Dermatologists" and suggest that the diagnosis may be "neuropathic itch."

I take it it's your Mum that has the itchy skin sunny? Has she tried associating it with any food type? Just recently my skin has become very itchy after eating chocolate so i stopped eating it and, no itchy skin. Started eating it, itchy skin.So now, although I love chocolate, I've decided to stop eating it.Just a thought.
