I have suffered an appalling breach of my privacy, not unlike this guy. I had all my settings set to the highest possible setting, and yet my FB profile somehow became public property.
I shan't be re-joining.

you are still on....maybe you should delete your old account.
I've just checked my profile as a non friend and there is very little to show.
It's not a recent thing as I've always been able to see your profile.
Question Author
Irishmaid,.....I have deleted it...how much can you see?

Rocky, thanks for that. This is like a bad dream...how many times have I got to deactivate?? I've done it 3 times now :(

Some of your timeline seems to be public (when a photo is involved), your daily comments are not though. The only friends I can see on your friends list are mutual to me on both accounts that I have.
Question Author
As I have yours ummm, cover photos and profile photos are always public, there is no way to make them "friends only", but yesterday I was given the impression that the general public were able see all my photo albums etc?
excuse my ignorance, but what seems to be the problem here? surely FB is just a social media website for light conversations, and nothing else. am i missing something?
You have to ask yourself why people are still happy to use it when even the owners site has been hacked several times.
Question Author
Yeah rocky, that's right, comments on cover photos are shown, and that is why I've tried not to have any convos on them if possible.
I'll deactivate that account if it kills me ;)

It seems some of your photos are public. I'll check properly in a minute as I'll stay on my profile on this computer and use the OH's for my Rocky account (as were not friends on that one) and compare.
Can you log in yet?
Have you worked out if there is a problem with your FB account - you couldn't log into your account last I heard?

What makes you think that your account has been hacked? Hackers only do something like that if there is something to gain.

Ask someone (your son?) to log into your account and review the settings.

With computers *** happens
.
dont put anything on a public network you dont want to be read by the usual suspects - Bill Gates, CIA, MI5 and so on
seems a good rule

if you dont use for some months the account is automatically archived ....
Question Author
Wolfy, no, I have always been able to log in, it's just that my profile looked to me as if I was a new user,...my profile photo was a silhouette, and I had no friends, and no photos.

Lol @ my son helping,...he's worse than I am with techy stuff.

So am I still there in your friend list, with profile pic, etc? Can you read my Timeline and see vids I posted etc?

Question Author
Well PP, that's what I'll have to do, because it sure seems to want to keep me there ;)

I think it takes 3 months for the account to disappear after you have deactivated.
Everything looks as it should do.

Have you been tinkering with your account settings? It is probably something really stupid that has happened or you have done.

Have you managed to log on with another computer? If so the problem may be in your laptop/tablet.
Did you contact fb about all your stuff vanishing, Baths?
Question Author
No wolfie, I haven't tried from another computer yet.

Yep jo, I did contact them,...no reply as yet, and I shan't be holding my breath to get one ;)
