I recently asked a question for people to give advice on helping me sleep at night, ive now realised i didnt go into much depth, my fiance works perm nights and i have a 15 month old baby who sleeps in my room sometimes in my bed, because i get scared at night, it's not just scared of intruders its scared of the dead and ghosts, if any one has any ideas how i can be at peace during the night and let my baby into his nursery, i would be most happy,

In the nicesy possible way I suggest you approach your doctor and explain your situation and ask if he/she can refer you to a specialist who could get to the bottom of your problem, good luck

You could try Kalms tablets, theyre not sleeping tablets but just take away stress and help you relax and are widely available in chemists and supermarkets. But as davidicus said if you are really working yourself up over this you should speak to your doctor and get things sorted. I do sympathise with you, i always feel more comfortable and relaxed when my 2 year old gets into my bed than when shes in her own room! But its not the way to go really for their sake, I hope you manage to get it sorted, good luck x

Sorry I don't have advice, but just wanted to say you have my full sympathy kitten, I have terrible trouble sleeping at night because I'm terrified of dying (not there and then but one day) The only thing I can do is either watch tv or read till I fall asleep, but I know that's not much help to you, with having a baby you need to get all the sleep you can.  Go to your doctor and ask to be refered to a counceller. Good luck and if you need to talk, come back here x x x x

i hope your fiance is aware of your nervous nights.. if not you must communicate with him. can he not switch to days?   without being rude... did/have you have post natal depression... ?   i would recommend telling it all to your GP.xx

Do you think your room is haunted?  You may be best of switching rooms, or getting someone in to exorcise it.  My mum's mate lived in a haunted house in a little ancient village by where I live.  It really freaked her out and she got the priest in to exorcise it.  It worked to some extent, and whatever's left she feels is friendly and she can cope with.  Whether other people believe in ghosts or not is a mute point - you do, so get some peace of mind.

Why dont you put a tv in your bedroom, or a radio next to your bed, put it on quietly it will be company for you.  It sounds like your mind is to active.  Perhaps you may also try some meditation to ease your mind, there are plenty of books out there for that. If your really stressed out, thats when your mind plays tricks on you.  Good luck x

You could... put good, heavy locks on the wondows and doors or get a security alarm fitted to make you less worried about the possibility of burglars.  You could get a dog, that might reassure you some in the night, but you probably have enough on your plate with a baby.

The ghosts - You can't really prevent but you just have to remember that they can't hurt you.  If there are ghosts in your place, the chances are that they are relatives who have passed - people who love you!  If you do see any just ignore them and they go away - really.

You could leave a night light on or a TV, play some calming music or even a relaxation tape while you're in bed. It's always good to have a little background noise from the TV or something when you're by yourself/ with baby, so you're not listening to every creak and pop of floor boards and things.

Some aromatherapy oils or candles might help relax you.  (candles - not recommended if you're going to fall asleep really)  Try something like lavender oil on your pillow this is really good for assisting sleep.

Don't drink caffeine before bed try something like camomile tea or you can buy specially blended teas to assist sleep and relaxation from the supermarket.

I hope some of this helps... good luck, Laurinha x

depending on your beliefs i would say prayer is maybe an option. you could try reading or relaxation cd's. yoga may help also
Ten years on the 15month old baby will now be 11 years old so things may have improved, bl08791
