I use a mooncup and its fab - does anyone use one? does anyone think they are yukky? Does anyone know what they are or is it just me? If you don't, google it - and ladies, you should try it - much better for the environment

I have heard of them but didn't know if they were any good. Nobody I know has tried them. I might give them a go - as you say, much better for the environment.

Umm, care to expand? I haven't a clue what you're on about but think it might have something to do with contraception? Need the opportunity first!
ok, barking up slightly the wrong tree, now I've googled it. They look weird! Might give it a whirl though...
not convinced I could rollerskate with one of those in ;o)

Oh my god.

I googled it.

I'm not a naturally squeemish kinda girl, but EMPTYING it...? Admire anyone who uses one but I just couldn't!

Purpose I'm with you on that one. Eeeuuurrghhh it sounds disgusting.
where i work we have cubicle toilets and a shared sink area.  i just couldnt wash it in work!  or any public toilets
sorry, but now freaking way!
Thats disgusting!
I REALLY could have done without googling that, ta very much
I have a different make of the same sort of thing. Best thing since sliced bread, isn't it?!
I think they sound a great idea, I think it would depend on your lifestyle etc as to whether it is suitable for you, but I am definitely going to check it out further.
I think it sounds brilliant ...  far better for the environment and also saves you money !
Oh No,no,no,no! I couldn't,No,oh no!
I use a similar variation called the Instead cup.  For those too squeamish to empty it - for heaven's sake, it's your own bodily fluid!  In any case, you can wear a cup for up to 12 hours without having to empty it, so you'd be safe from having to do it at work or wherever.

Ouisch:

It's not the fact that it's BLOOD, or that it's MINE... it's the fact that it collects in a little plastic thing FOR 12 HOURS (?!) so you end up with a cup of something INCONVENIENT to have to tip down the loo and then take it to a basin to rinse it!!!!

Tampons just do not have the yikky factor of these things... AND ARE SO CONVENIENT!!

But good luck to you for giving it a go!!

I know what you're referring to and have never tried one, but I have thought about it for environmental reasons.  I think my doubts are similar to a lot of the other ladies - practicality, eg when using a public toilet...but I will say to the squeamish girls amongst us, there is a famous feminist saying that if you can't dip your finger in your own menstrual blood and taste it, then you have a long, long way to go.
Have heard about em before... still not convinced... I'm sticking with good ole tampax! :-)

nicola_red:

a long, long way to go for WHAT, exactly?!

does it make us less like women if we prefer NOT to do that? to be a 'proper' feminist must one do that?

most peculiar :0)

I was in an eco-friendly shop with some friends once, and saw machine-washable sanitary towels. After we had got over the initial horror of the thought of washing them with all your clothes, we then hooted at the image of someone's back yard, with a washing line with a row of sanitary towels pegged to it.

and as far as tasting my own, Nicola Red, I'd really rather not.
