I am not sure if anyone else has noticed, but with the Boots summer advert, it originally started with the guy lying amongst sand dunes looking through binoculars, saying 'lets see if we can move closer' The next scene cut to a child on the beach having sun cream applied. I always thought that had very dodgy connotations! I can see that they have now changed the scene sequence of the advert, so that the man is not shown directly before the child. Given the current paedophile prosecutions, I wonder if someone pointed out this to them and they thought it was best to change it or if it is just coincidence that that the advert scene sequence has been changed.
Did anyone else ever notice this in the original sequence or is it just me!

LOL....no never noticed........sorry.
Nope, not the sort of thing I'd probably notice, but you are probably right - chance in the interests of public concern.
Know the advert you mean but never noticed that Sue.
I never know what people are on about when talking about TV ads...we always mute them and do something useful...or cut them out of recordings.
.

I think you are right. I saw a recent production of The Marriage of Figaro, and altho I agree it is mainly about two men marrying not each other but two women, there is a sub plot with Cherubino which should be played by a man - as castrato actually but there arent many around who can sing - but by a woman, who then has to pretend to be a man. Later the woman ( cherubino ) who should be a man but isnt, has to pretend to be a woman ( which she is).

I mean is this suitable entertainment for young children and unmarried men ?
LOL...PP....I was once having dinner with a Saudi surgeon and had to explain to him that a Pantomine was a fictitious story where the leading man was played by a woman and i also had to explain why women took their kids to a Well Baby Clinic when they were well.........what was the point he asked?

Difficult eh?
I think I'll give The Marriage of Figaro a miss. It sounds very complicated.
I think I'll also take a rain cheque on Baby clinics. Incidentally perhaps someone can explain to me about these rooms that have sprung up called Baby Changing rooms in my day we were always very happy with the one we already had.
How the standards of advertising have changed over the years. It appears that in 1938 there was nothing wrong with looking at a bit of a baby's bum.

Wasn't it something to do with Hayfever relief stuff - I took it that the bloke with the binoculars was a birdwatcher and after using the hayfever stuff etc etc - to link it to this paedophile stuff is being a bit paranoid - IMHO

I see what you mean, Sue - a bit iffy - I've never liked the Werther's original ads either, for similar reasons.
I know the ad you mean but I can't watch it, not because it's iffy but because that jiggling child drives me potty...stand still! :)

Thank you for all the answers, hmm Marriage Of Figaro, I think I will give that a miss like Tilly2!
Mick, yes I think it is to do with hay fever relief and of course the scene is entirely innocent, it is just my slant on what I thought when I saw the next scene with the child on the beach, I put 2 and 2 together and have come up with, well about 444!
Margie04, now you have got me thinking about the Werther ad! Never noticed it before, but yes I guess the adults could be asking the kiddies to come up and see their puppies next.......
Now perhaps I really am getting a bit paranoid!
Thanks again
Sue
I can the points being made, but isn't it sad ? I really do feel sorry for genuine blokes out there who are now eyed with suspicion in some circumstances.
Very very sad that you've been unwittingly brainwashed by the Daily Mail etc into seeing such activities in every situation. It's not funny, it's deeply disturbing, and we should be doing all we can to fight such offensive kneejerk reactions and not entertain them.
They probably trialled two versions of the ad and found this one to get the best response - although it could be your theory too.

The halfords TDF ads used to have many more shots of the really fat chap in pink Lycra - he was excellent, but they seem to have cut him down (the amount he is on screen, not his size) for the ad now. A shame in my opinion as it made me chuckle.
I saw a Boots advert very recently which was absolute nonsense - trouble is I can't recall why.
