I have been in either camp up to now and I recently decided to have a go at the "eat breakfast" side again, after 2 days of feeling nauseous straight after eating breakfast I remembered why I stopped before. Anyway we are always being told that breakfast is vital etc etc so I decided to try and figure out why I was feeling sick and I came across this:
http://stronglifts.com/7-reasons-why-you-should-not-eat-breakfast/
so now I'm completely confused! should I eat breakfast and if so how to I stop feeling uncle dick for a couple of hours after?
PS I don't often foray into this section so be gentle ok!

I couldn't function without a bit of breakfast, my porridge is bubbling away whilst I'm typing this :)
Compromise, have a small breakfast eg. a slice or two of toast or a small bowl of cereal.
i never used to eat breakfast until about 10ish but now i go to the gym in the mornings before work, i'm getting up at half 5 and by 8 when i get to work, i'm really hungry
... or some fruit.
I can't eat breakfast, just the thought o it makes me feel queasy. I don't eat until about 8.30 in the evening (yes, I know, very bad habit).
OMG! eeeek! and whatever.

If breakfast makes you fell sick...........don't have any.

If you fancy eggs and bacon......go ahead.

Porridge, fruit, toast , marmalade.......this isn't rocket science just common sense.

Do what suit's you.
By definition, breakfast is the first food consumed after the fast of the night before regardless of the time of consumption. But as we are all different in our metabolism and general constitutions our needs and reactions to food at any given time of day varies widely. Personally, I haven't eaten "breakfast" for many a long year but on the odd occasion I do then I find I don't need anything else until the evening.
maybe you're eating the wrong things? I've never felt anything less than nauseous after a full English, but I cope ok with toast and orange juice. Cereal might be okay even if poached eggs are not.

Bodies do need fuel and the start of the day seems like a good time to put some in. Having to have a dinner that will keep you going for 16 hours sounds like binge eating.
Don't eat it. Have brunch. I have to be up and awake for about 3 hours before I can eat.
Do you know why you feel nauseous after breakfast ? One has to break the night time fast at some point. I think the issue is less when you do but to understanding why you react 'badly'.

all I had was a bowl of standard unsweetened cereal this morning and I felt like throwing up on the way to work. The thing is though I felt unusually hungry this morning that's rare for me, I normally don't even think of food until abaout 11am that's why I have been a skipper. As I type this I'm feeling much better. The thing is I've always gone with the "eat breakfast" camp as being a good idea in theory but I'm starting to wonder if my body agrees!
no point in fighting your body. But if not cereal... sausage and eggs? Fruit? Toast? Do they all make you ill?
Question Author
jno, I'm talking about cereal not a fry up.
well, would a fry-up do? It's all different strokes for different folks here... If one thing doesn't work, try another. As OG says, you have to break your fast some time, so maybe what you'd normally have for lunch without trouble would be okay for breakfast?
I`ve never been able to get up and eat breakfast and it`s never done me any harm. I haven`t eaten anything yet today. I`d just do what you feel like doing. If it makes you nauseous, then don`t do it. Just eat a small amount to keep you going if you need the energy. I don`t care whether "they" say it kick starts your metabolism, is the most important meal of the day etc.
If you can eat at 11.00 with no ill effects then call that your breakfast,TTT! After all, it doesn't have to consist of what a majority of people would class as "breakfast", does it?
I never really ate until late in the day like Sherrard but then I was diagnosed as diabetic so stagger my meals a bit more now, but still can't ea until I've been up for 3 or 4 hours or I feel sick as hell. Do what suits you if I were you.

ok thanks all, I'm going to revert to eating an apple when I reach my desk! Just managed that apple today a little late!
I trust we were gentle enough with you,TTT?
