Early hours of Monday morning my husband woke me saying he had really bad chest pain, he was clammy and his breathing was funny, I called an ambulance which arrived in less than ten minutes, he said he was feeling better when they arrived, they hooked him up to a monitor and he suddenly went all grey and clammy again and said the pain was back.

They whisked him straight of to LGI instead if taking him to York, they did an angiogram and found he needed stents which were then fitted and last night he was transferred to York.

Not a question, just a thank you to the NHS and the service provided at LGI.

I don't think that anyone is saying that the NHS is ALL bad. The treatment that your husband received for a suspected heart attack was standard procedure that would have been administered in most countries in the world,anything less would have been unacceptable treatment. good for them. They're usually pretty promt with emergencies and serious illnesses.
Nice to hear a good story about the NHS! It get's plenty of knocks but I personally have never had any bad dealings with them, either with myself or family members that have needed medical care.

Wishing your husband all the best Traci, hope he's home soon. I think we can all find something to moan about with the NHS, all I can say is whenever I've needed help for myself, or called them for someone else in an Emergency they have been absolutely First Class.
Ive witnessed a few incidents that I wasnt happy with concerning the NHS but on the whole I have witnessed some excellent care and I think it is a service that we should be proud of.

Just waiting for daughter to arrive and then we are going to visit him, have spoke to him this morning and he sounds fine, thank you all.
I had similar experiences with NHS. Not only have they saves my life, but the regular follow-ups have spotted other problems which were promptly dealt with. The hospital food wasn't bad either.

We have no complaints about NHS....so far.
They've never let us down during his heart scare on two accasions and my 10 yrs of bladder ops and checks. I hope nhs never goes down the pan, they have my full support always.
Traci .... I had heart attack in 2007, same great service from NHS. I had 2 stents fitted and everything is fine. Your husband will be better off with the stents, he needs to take it slowly for a few weeks but all will be ok I am sure. Good luck to you both. :)
Hi Traci - glad to read of the prompt treatment your husband received.

It is true to say that bad news sells papers and fills pages, so good feedback is essential.

I wish you both well after what must have been a scary time.
One year ago this weekend i had exactly the same experience as you Traci. I'm pleased all went well and wish OH a speedy return home. A series of check ups follows and a selection of meds to take each day and he'll soon be back to his old self.
